영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to survey the present status of psychotherapeutic practices of Korean psychiatric specialists Information was solicited by means of a questionnaire, distributed to the members of the Korean Neuropsychiatric Association (using the 1983-1984 Roster of the K.N.A). Stamped return envelopes were supplied and the respondents were requested to remain anonymous. One hundred and twenty four members, 40% of the K.N.A. responded to the questionnaire. The result were as follows; Fifty eight percent of the respondents had psychotherapy session, but 57% spent less than 8hours per week in the practice of psychotherapy and 67% conducted insight oriented psychotherapy and supportive psychotherapy. The majority of respondents believed in the effectivences of psychotherapy even for schizophrenia, but only a small number of psychotherapist received proper treatment fee. Fourty seven percent of the respondents felt their training in psychotherapy had been satisfactory, and 68% had the opinion that individual supervision is adequate training method in dynamic psychotherapy in Korea. By applying the psychotherapy to the mental patients, only a few \2% of the respondents said they obtained the considerable good results and most of the respondents considered that in most cases, the patient’s motivations were the major factors commanding the sucess or failure of the therapy. In the respondents， opinions, the difficulties frequently met when performing psychotherapy were lack of understanding of patients and their family members, shortage of therapist’s time and poor economic status of the patients. As for the future prospect of the Korean psychotherapy, the large majority of respondents cherished a good expectation and on the contrary a small number of 19% of the respondents had the pessimistic views.
