Research on the Protection and Design Strategies of Traditional Dwellings Under Participatory Development Models: A Case Study of Shengping Fort in Youxi

국문 초록
Traditional rural settlements, rooted in agricultural civilization, form a crucial foundation of our national culture. Their site selection, layout, decoration, and design embody rich cultural connotations and local characteristics, creating a comfortable living environment and diverse spatial functions. However, during the rapid urbanization period, many ancient dwellings have either vanished over time or transformed into modern concrete structures, losing their historical essence. The reasons for this include: a lack of awareness among government and villagers regarding preservation, an oversight of the cultural value of traditional dwellings with an emphasis solely on their spatial functions, and the diminished role of villagers leading to unsatisfactory outcomes in the renovation of traditional homes. This paper takes Shengping Fort as a case study to explore the relationship between Tubao and participatory development involving villagers. It identifies three modes of villager participation: involvement in design and planning, cultural heritage transmission and preservation, and supervision and evaluation, aimed at enhancing villagers' awareness of preservation. Furthermore, through participatory workshops and a permanent working platform, it seeks to expand effective avenues for villager decision-making participation, striving to discover endogenous and sustainable development pathways for the revival of traditional villages and culture.
