국문 초록

블레이크는 초기시의 『앨비언의 딸들의 환상』에서 신화적 상상력을 발휘하여 신화세계를 사실적으로 체계화를 최초로 단행한 작가이다. 그의 신화적 창작기술은 이전의 영국시인들 가운데 최초로 시도된 것이다. 그리스 신화와 켈트신화와 같은 특성과는 전혀 다른 구성과 내용으로 영국의 기원을 묘사한 독특한 점이 돋보인다. 역사상, 서양 역사에서 제국을 형성한 많은 국가들은 그 나름대로 특이한 신화를 지니고 있다. 이러한 측면에서 그가 영국신화를 창조한 것은 영국이 제국으로 번성할 것을예측한 것처럼 보인다. 그래서 그의 시는 예언적이며, 영국의 기원을 노래한 신화적특성이 두드러진다.

영문 초록

William Blake begins to create definitely the organized mythic system with the mythical imagination in his Vision of the Daughters of Albion. His mythology is the original one which the English poets had never narrated before. It is the specific mythology which describes the origin of the Great Britain. It is entirely different in format and content from other mythologies such as the Greek and the Celtic mythology. Historically, the many nations built up an empire have their mythologies. It seems that the reason he creates a mythology for England is that he predicts that the Great Britain will be prosperous and become an Empire. His poem then is a prophecy, and a mythology that sings the origin of the Great Britain.
