국문 초록

이 글은 영화 <프리다의 그해 여름>(2017)이 롱테이크를 활용해 현실의 객관성과 주관성을 동시에 보존하는 방식을 살펴본다. 이로써 대사나 서사 편집보다 이미지로 대상의 의미와 심리를 설득시키는 영화의 미학적 성취를 확인한다. 나아가, 롱테이크가 몽타주와 대립하는 연출 요소가 아닌 미장센과 몽타주의 변증적 매개체임을 예증한다. 결과적으로 이 연구를 통해 다음과 같은 내용을 확인할 수 있다. 첫째, <프리다의 그해 여름>의 롱테이크는 인물들의 불투명한 심리와 복잡한 관계에 대해 관객들이 끊임없이 사유하게 만든다. 특히 핸드헬드와 리프레이밍을 동반하는 롱테이크는 공간적 현실 속에서 주관적 심리를 발견할 수 있도록 독려한다. 둘째, 롱테이크를 통해 자생적인 힘을 갖게 되는 쇼트들은 몽타주를 통해 자신의 모호성과 다층성을 더 확장할 수 있다. 나아가, 몽타주에도 사라지지 않고 관객의 사유체계 속에 남아 또 다시 다른 쇼트와 몽타주될 가능성을 확보한다.

영문 초록

This paper examines how the film Estiu 1993(2017) simultaneously preserves the objectivity and subjectivity of reality using long takes. Through this process, I confirm the aesthetic achievement of the film that persuades the meaning and psychology of the object through images rather than dialogue or editing that rely on narrative. Furthermore, I demonstrates that the long take is not the element that is opposed to montage, but is dialectical media of mise-en-scene and montage. Consequently, I was able to verify the following through this study. Firstly, long takes of “Frida's Summer” make the audience constantly think about the uncertain psychology and complex relationship of the characters. In particular, long takes accompanied by handheld and refraiming encourages the discovery of subjective psychology in spatial reality. Secondly, shorts that have self-sustaining power through the long take can further expand their ambiguity and multi-layeredness through montage. Furthermore, they do not disappear after the montage but remain in the audience's mind, securing the possibility of montage with another shot.
