국문 초록

한국의 공예 관련 지원 정책은 담당 부서와 정책의 변화에 따라 차이를 보여왔다. 공예 관련 지원기관이 문화체육관광부 산하일 때는 미술, 문화적 관점에 비중을 두는 반면 산업자원부 산하의 경우는 산업의 영역에 중점을 두고 있어 지원 대상자와 사업 내용이 다르다. 문화체육관광부 소속 산하 기관인 ‘한국공예디자인문화진흥원’은 정부의 공예인력 양성, 공예산업 육성, 공예문화 계승 발전시키려는 의지를 반영한 다양한 노력을 지속해 왔다. 그 가운데 공예트렌트페어는 17회(2006~2023년) 연속으로 코엑스에서 진행되어 온 공예진흥 사업으로 가장 많은 예산이 투입된 공예디자인문화진흥원의 핵심 사업이다. 그럼에도 지금까지 사업에 대한 전문 평가기관의 평가가 체계적으로 이뤄지지 못했으며 운영 및 성과와 관련된 대부분 자료는 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원 자체에서 작성된 보고서뿐이다. 이는 진흥원에 대한 외부 기관의 평가가 제한적, 비정기적으로 이뤄져 온 것과 무관하지 않다.

영문 초록

Korea's craft-related support policy has varied depending on the department in charge and shifts in policy focus. Specifically, when craft-related support organizations fall under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the emphasis tends to be on art and culture. In contrast, when the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy oversees such organizations, the focus shifts to the industrial sector. As a result, the targets of support and the nature of the projects differ accordingly. The Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF), an organization affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has consistently worked to reflect the government's commitment to developing craft manpower, nurturing the craft industry, and preserving and advancing craft culture. One notable initiative is the Craft Trend Fair, a key project of the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, which has been held at COEX for 17 consecutive years (2006-2023). This event represents the largest financial investment of the foundation. However, the evaluation of this project by professional agencies has been sparse and irregular, and most performance data has been sourced from reports produced by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation itself. This is partly due to the limited and inconsistent nature of external evaluations of the agency. The Craft Trend Fair, which best reflects the purpose of promoting craft culture, has grown into an event involving over 280 participants, including individuals, organizations, and institutions, through a variety of activities such as exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. In order to ensure the continued success of this project in promoting crafts, there is a need for expert-driven evaluations and improvements based on diverse and objective perspectives. This study aims to analyze the content and outcomes of the Craft Trend Fair through data and insights gathered from researchers who have directly and indirectly participated in the event as craft educators and artists. The goal of this research is to assess the achievements and identify areas for improvement, ultimately providing guidance for the direction of future initiatives.
