국문 초록

본 연구는 아랍에미리트(UAE)의 주류 산업과 관광 부문의 상관관계를 살펴보고 사우디아라비아 관광 산업의 잠재적 발전 가능성에 대한 분석을 시도한다. 이슬람 문화권에서는 음주를 엄격하게 금지하고 있지만, UAE를 비롯한 일부 중동 국가에서는 보다 관대한 규제 완화를 도입하고 있다. 이러한 변화는 지역 내 복잡한 문화적, 사회적, 경제적 상황을 반영한다. 2024년 1월 리야드에 문을 열 예정인 사우디아라비아 최초의 주류 판매점이 최근 발표되면서 이 지역의 주류 규제와 소비 문화에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 해당 매장은 외국인 및 비무슬림만을 대상으로 하지만 경제 다각화, 사회 개혁, 사우디 비전 2030 이니셔티브 등 다양한 요인에 의해 영향을 받는 중요한 정책 변화를 의미한다. 본 연에서는 UAE의 주류 산업을 종합적으로 분석하여 역사적 맥락, 규제 변화, 주류 소비와 관광 부문의 관계를 고찰한다. 이 연구는 UAE 모델을 연구함으로써 주류 합법화가 사우디아라비아에 어떤 영향을 미칠 수 있는지 예측하고 UAE 모델dl 사우디아라비아의 진화하는 관광 산업에도 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 평가하는 것을 목표로 한다.

영문 초록

This study explores the correlation between the alcohol industry and the tourism sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), providing insights into the potential development of Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry. Despite strict prohibitions on alcohol consumption in the Islamic cultural sphere, some Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, have implemented more lenient regulations. This shift reflects the complex cultural, social, and economic contexts within the region. The recent announcement of Saudi Arabia's first alcohol shop, set to open in Riyadh in January 2024, highlights growing interest in the region's alcohol regulations and consumption culture. Although this shop is intended exclusively for expatriates and non-Muslims, its establishment marks a significant policy shift influenced by various factors, including economic diversification, social reforms, and the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative. This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the UAE's alcohol industry, examining its historical context, regulatory changes, and the relationship between alcohol consumption and the tourism sector. By studying the UAE model, the research aims to predict how alcohol legalization could impact Saudi Arabia and assesses the potential for applying this model to Saudi Arabia’s evolving tourism industry as well.
