국문 초록

교과 간 통합은 단순한 결합이 아닌, 전략적인 선택으로 교과의 여러 영역과 관계하여 지식을 구성하도록 설계된다. 현재 초등학교 1, 2학년의 통합교과는 바른 생활, 슬기로운 생활, 즐거운 생활이 모여 삶과 관련된 주제를 통해 세상을 이야기하는경험 수업으로 통합되어 있으나, 각 교과의 특수성을 반영한 의미 있는 통합이라고말하기는 어려운 상황이다. 특히 미술 교과의 경우, 미술 교과 특성이 반영되지못한 채, 놀이를 중심으로 단순히 통합교과와 결합되어 있는 상태로 판단된다. 미술교육이 인간의 전인적 발달과 시지각적 인지발달을 도모한다는 것은 이미 많은학자에 의해 연구된 바 있으나, 실제로 통합교과를 통해 이루어지는 미술의 형태가정해진 도안의 학습지와 단순한 매체들이 활용되고 있어 초등 저학년의 미술 교육적측면이 약화 됨을 우려하는 상황이다. 이에 본 연구는 통합교과 지도 사례를 통해, 초등학교 1, 2학년 통합교과에서 미술 교과의 특성과 목표를 반영한 통합이 이루어지고 있는지 살펴보고, 미술 교과의 독자적 필요성을 탐색해 보고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The integration of subjects is not a simple combination but a strategic design to structure knowledge by relating different areas of study. Currently, the integrated curriculum for first and second graders in elementary school is composed of subjects such as “Moral Life,” “Wise Life,” and “Joyful Life,” which are unified through experiential lessons that discuss the world through life-related themes. However, it is difficult to say that this is a meaningful integration that reflects the specificity of each subject. In particular, the art subject seems to be merely combined with a focus on play, without considering the unique characteristics of art education. Many scholars have already studied the role of art education in promoting holistic human development and the development of visual perception and cognitive abilities. Yet, in practice, art within the integrated curriculum is often limited to predetermined worksheets and simplistic media, leading to a decrease in students' expectations for and engagement with aesthetic activities. Thus, this study aims to examine whether the integrated curriculum for first and second grades reflects the characteristics and goals of the art subject through integrated teaching examples. It also seeks to explore the necessity of maintaining the art subject as an independent discipline.
