국문 초록

권환의 삶은 이상과 현실 사이에서 끊임없이 고뇌와 실천을 추구했던 문학 행보를 보여주었다. 따라서 질곡의 시대를 살다간 그의 문학정신을 읽어내는 작업은 쉬운 일이 아닐 것이다. 하지만 이를 제대로 밝혀낸다면 시인 연구의 주요한 길라잡이 역할을 맡을 것이다. 이에 글쓴이는 권환의 작품 속에 나타난 결핵 체험과 시적 메타포를 중심으로 시대현실에 맞선 작가정신을 살펴보고자 했다. 먼저, 권환이 결핵을 앓기 시작한 시기는 1931년 무렵이었다. 그는 결핵으로 말미암아 입원과 투병생활을 거듭하면서도 왕성한 창작활동을 보여주었다. 특히 일제강점기 권환의 작품은 이념과 실천 사이에서 끊임없이 고뇌했던 문학인의 정신세계를 응축하고 있었다. 그런 점에서 일제강점기 권환의 작품 속에 들앉은 결핵 메타포는 단순히 육체적인 질병만을 의미하지 않았고, 당대 지식인으로서 개인적 욕망의 좌절이 표현된 내면풍경과도 연관되어 있었다. 다음으로, 1945년 광복 이후에도 권환은 결핵으로 심하게 고통받고 있었다. 당시 권환은 북행보다는 귀향을 선택하여 마산결핵요양소에서 1년 남짓 입원하였고, 퇴원 뒤에도 여러 병원을 오가며 결핵 치료를 받았다. 그러한 상황에서 권환의 마산살이는 결핵과의 투병으로 말미암은 실존의 행보였던 것이다. 물론 그는 한국전쟁 이후 사망하기까지 많은 작품을 발표하지 못했다. 그렇지만 그의 작품 속에 들앉은 결핵 메타포는 삶과 죽음 사이에서 고투했던 문학인의 행보를 고스란히 대변해주고 있었다. 이즈음 지역사회에서는 권환의 삶과 문학에 대한 관심이 커져가고 있다. 권환의 문학을 온전히 복원하고 조명하기 위한 작업은 문학연구자들의 남은 몫일 것이다. 앞으로 그의 삶과 문학에 대한 연구와 현양, 특히 지역문학 관련 연구가 뒤따라야 할 것이다. 아울러 그의 고향인 마산지역에서 20여년에 걸쳐 이어지고 있는 권환문학제가 더욱 활발하게 추진되고, 생가 복원 또는 문학관 건립을 비롯한 광범위한 현양사업이 이루어지길 바란다.

영문 초록

Kwon Hwan's life showed a literary movement that constantly pursued anguish and practice between ideal and reality, so it would not be easy to read his literary spirit while living in a time of despair. However, if this is properly clarified, it will play a major role as a guideline for the study of poets, and the writer tried to examine the writer's spirit against the reality of the times, focusing on the experience of tuberculosis and poetic metaphor in Kwon Hwan's works. First, Kwon Hwan began to suffer from tuberculosis in 1931, and he showed a lot of creative activities while he was hospitalized and battling tuberculosis. In particular, the works of Kwon Hwan during the Japanese colonial period were condensing the spiritual world of literary people who constantly agonized between ideology and practice. In this regard, the tuberculosis metaphor in the works of Kwon Hwan during the Japanese colonial period did not simply mean physical illness, but was also related to the inner landscape in which the frustration of personal desire was expressed as an intellectual of the time. Next, after the liberation in 1945, Kwon Hwan was suffering severely from tuberculosis. At that time, Kwon Hwan chose to return home rather than to the north, and was hospitalized for about a year at the Masan Tuberculosis Sanitarium. In such a situation, Kwon Hwan 's Masan was a step of existence due to the struggle with tuberculosis. Of course, he could not publish many works until he died after the Korean War. However, the tuberculosis metaphor in his work represented the struggle of the literary man who struggled between life and death. At this time, interest in Kwon Hwan's life and literature is growing in the local community. In the future, studies on his life and literature and studies on Hyeonyang, especially local literature, should be followed. In addition, I hope that Kwon Hwan Literature Festival, which has been going on for 20 years in his hometown Masan area, will be actively promoted, and a wide range of projects will be carried out including restoration of his birthplace or construction of a literary museum.
