재일한인의 『한국어학본』 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 재일한인의 『한국어학본』 교과서를 대상으로 다음과 같은 내용들을 고찰하였다. 먼저 배경적인 의미로 해방 이후부터 1960년대까지 일본 지역 한인사회의 국어교육 현황을 살폈다. 해방 직후에는 일본 정부의 조선인학교 폐쇄 문제가 국어교육에 저해 요소였고, 1950년대에는 이념문제까지 더해져 국어교육의 필요성이 재론되었다. 1960년대에는 정부 측에서 한인 국어교육과 한인학교 육성정책을 강화하였다. 『한국어학본』은 바로 이러한 시기에 발간된 교재라는 점에서 주목된다. 다음으로 『한국어학본』 교과서의 체재 및 내용, 국어교육적 가치에 대해서 살펴보았다. 총 5부 구성이며, 제1부는 ‘한글 읽기 기초 학습’ 편으로, 자모, 철자법, 발음법 등을 설명하고 있다. 제2부는 ‘기초 어휘와 일상어 학습’ 편이며, 주로 회화를 통하여 일상어를 훈련하는 부분이다. 제3부는 ‘발음과 문법 학습’ 편으로, 발음의 일반적 법칙과 문법을 단계별로 상세히 학습하도록 배치했다. 내용면에서는 한국의 ‘생활과 문화’와 관련된 다양한 분야를 다루어, 재일한인으로 하여금 모국의 상황을 이해하는데 도움이 되도록 하였다. 제4부는 ‘한국문학의 이해와 감상 학습’ 편으로, 수록 작품을 음미하는 데 중점을 두었다. 제5부는 ‘자모 및 받침의 발음법칙 학습’ 편이며, 1~4부 단원들을 학습하면서 발음법칙을 지속적으로 참고할 수 있는 부록 기능을 한다. 『한국어학본』는 한글 기초편에서 문법편으로, 이를 토대로 문학읽기편으로 단계별로 난이도를 높이는 심화학습 형태를 띤다. 여기에 교과서 서두의 문자표와 말미의 반절표까지 첨부하고 있어 문자 조직의 원리를 충분히 익히도록 하고 있다. 『한국어학본』은 재일한인들을 위해 발간된 국어교과서로 한글의 원리를 익히고 “일상에서 흔히 만나는 살아있는 말”을 사용할 수 있으며, 또한 단원 내용을 통해 한국의 “생활과 문화” 그리고 “한국문학”을 이해하도록 편찬한 교과서라는 점에서 의의가 있다. 그런데 재일한인 가정에 배포된 점을 고려하면, 학습 대상별 맞춤교육에는 문제점을 드러낸다. 문법이나 어휘면에서 난이도가 비약적으로 높아지는 경향을 보이며, 내용면에서도 한국을 이해하도록 유도하는 정보력은 있으나, 한인 아동들을 고려한다면 교육적인 측면에서는 적절치 못한 제재도 보인다. 이것은 교육 대상이 다소 광범위하게 설정된 데서 기인한 것이라 하겠다.

영문 초록

This study examines Hangugeo Hakbon for the Korean community in Japan as follows. First, the current status of Korean language education in the Korean community in Japan from the post-liberation period to the 1960s. Immediately after liberation, the Japanese government's closure of Korean schools was a hindrance to Korean language education, and in the 1950s, the need for Korean language education was revisited due to ideological issues. In the 1960s, the government strengthened its policy of fostering Korean schools. It is noteworthy that this textbook, Hangugeo Hakbon was published during this period. Next, this paper examined the characteristics of the textbook and its value for Korean language education. The textbook is organized into five parts, and the first part is 'Learning the Basics of Reading Korean', which explains the alphabet, spelling, and pronunciation. Part 2 is 'Learning Basic Vocabulary and Daily Language', which mainly trains daily language through conversations. Part 3 is organized in a detailed step-by-step way to learn the general rules of pronunciation and grammar. In terms of content, it covers various sectors related to Korean life and culture to help overseas Koreans understand the situation in their home country. Part 4 is “Learning to Understand and Appreciate Korean Literature” which focuses on enjoying the works included. Part 5 serves as an appendix for continued reference on pronunciation while studying parts 1-4. Hangugeo Hakbon is organized in an in-depth learning format that gradually increases the difficulty level from the basic Korean language to grammar and then to literature reading. The textbook also includes a character table at the beginning of the textbook and a half-length table at the end, so you can fully understand the principles of character organization. Hangugeo Hakbon is a national language textbook published for the Korean people, and it is significant in that it is designed to help them learn the principles of Hangul and use “living words that are commonly encountered in everyday life,” as well as to understand Korean “life, culture,” and “Korean Literature” through the content of the units. However, this textbook was distributed to Korean families, and although it is an in-depth learning system that gradually increases the level of learning from the basics, it was compiled to educate all generations in a single book. As a result, it is problematic to customize the education for each learning target. In terms of grammar and vocabulary, the first half of the lessons are at a basic level that even children can master, but the difficulty level tends to increase dramatically in subsequent lessons. In addition, the content is informative in terms of understanding Korea, but in some cases it is not appropriate in terms of education, which is a limitation.
