국문 초록

본고는 이광수 시조의 특징을 두 가지에 주안점을 두고 논의를 진행하였다. 하나는 시조관 형성의 배경과 변화 과정을 통시적으로 살펴보는 것이다. 다른 하나는 시조에 반영된 자아의 반영 양상에 대한 분석이다. 이와 같은 연구 목적을 설정하게 된 이유는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이광수의 시조 인식을 보다 면밀하게 살펴보기 위함이다. 이광수는 문학론, 시조론, 시가집에서 시조에 대한 정의나 특징을 말할 때 ‘노래 부른다’ 또는 ‘읊는다’ 같은 표현을 빈번하게 사용하였다. 노래로서의 시조와 문학으로서 시조 인식이 병존하고 있는 것이다. 본고에서는 이에 대한 요인과 의미를 살펴보고자 한다. 둘째, 이광수 글쓰기의 특징인 자전적 요소가 시조에 반영된 양상을 고찰하고자 하였다. 이광수는 시조를 문학의 범주에서 수용하고 있었다. 따라서 그가 시조를 창작한다는 것은 자전적 요소가 반영된 글쓰기 행위이기도 하다. 이 부분에 주목하여 이광수 시조의 특징을 논의하였다. 논의의 순서는 이광수의 유년기 문학 체험, 시조관 형성과 변화 과정, 개인 체험의 읊조림과 자아의 일치 순서로 진행하였다. 이광수는 유년기 재당숙 집에서 문학을 접했으며, 문자와 구술 체험으로 문학을 향유하였다. 즉, 그의 시조관은 유년기 문학 체험으로부터 비롯되었고 이러한 인식은 그의 문학론과 시조론에도 영향을 주었다. 한편 그는 시조의 형식을 소리와 의미 차원에서 접근함으로써, 노래로서의 시조를 문학으로서 시조로 변전할 수 있는 기반을 모색하였다. 그리고 이광수 창작 시조의 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시적 소재를 개인의 체험을 토대로 한다. 둘째, 읊조림의 향유 방식을 보여준다. 셋째, 자아와 시적 화자의 일치를 추구한다. 이광수에게 시조는 학습보다는 유년기부터 구술 체험을 통해 자연스럽게 체득해 온 익숙한 양식이었다. 여기에 시조에 대한 문학적 지식이 보태지며 시조 시형에 대한 체계적인 분석이 곁들여졌다. 시조 시형에 대한 분석은 국민문학으로서 시조의 위상을 정립하는 데 분명히 유의미한 지점이기도 하다. 한편으로는 규격화된 시형 안에서 다양한 조법을 통해 작자가 작품에 자아를 노출시키되 내면 정서를 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 통로라는 의미를 지닌다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the characteristics of Lee Kwang-soo's Sijo in two points and discusses them. One is to look diachronicly at the background of Sijo's recognition and the process of change. The other is the analysis of the reflection aspect of the self reflected in the Sijo. The purpose of this study is as follows. First, the purpose of this study is to examine Lee Kwang-soo's understanding of Sijo more closely. Lee Kwang-soo frequently used expressions such as 'Sing a song' or 'recite' when describing the definition or characteristics of Sijo in literary theory Sijo theory and poetry. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors and meanings of Sijo. Second, to examine the aspect that autobiographical elements which are the characteristics of Lee Kwang-soo's writing are reflected in Sijo. Focusing on this part the characteristics of Lee Kwang-soo's Sijo were discussed. The order of discussion was in the order of Lee Kwang-soo's childhood literature experience. the process of formation and change of Sijo recognition, the recitation of personal experience, and the coincidence of self. In other words, his view of sijo originated from his childhood literary experience and this recognition influenced his literary theory and sijo theory. On the other hand, by approaching the form of Sijo in terms of sound and meaning, he sought the basis for transforming Sijo as a song into Sijo as a literature. First, the poetic material is being sought in the personal experience. Second, it shows the enjoyment method of recitation. Third, it pursues the unity of self and poetic narrator. For Lee Kwang-soo, Sijo was a familiar style that he had naturally acquired through oral experience from his childhood rather than learning and added literary knowledge of Sijo and systematic analysis of Sijo's poetry. The analysis of Sijo poetry is also a significant point in establishing the status of Sijo as a national literature. On the other hand, it has a meaning that the author can expose the self to the work through various methods in the standardized poetry form. But it is a channel to express the emotion effectively.
