국문 초록

조선총독부는 1933년 ｢조선보물고적명승천연기념물보존령｣을 제정하여 식민지 조선의 유산을 보물·고적·명승·천연기념물로 분류하여 지정하고 보존·관리하기 시작했다. 국립중앙박물관에는 지정된 보물 등의위치를 표시하는 석표를 세우기 위해 1938년부터 1945년까지 생산된조선총독부 공문서 일부가 남아 있는데, 조선총독부 학무국과 각도 사이에 오고간 것들이다. 이 연구는 이들 공문서를 발굴·분석하여 석표가 건립되기 시작한 시기, 근거규정, 건립목적을 추정하고 석표건립을 위한 조선총독부의 행정절차를 규명하며 학무국이 각도에 배포한 석표건립용 사양서·양식·사양을 밝힌다. 이를 통해 일제강점 말기 조선총독부의 석표건립은 식민지 조선의 보물 등을 보존·관리하는 소극적인 방식이었음을 확인한다.

영문 초록

In 1933, the Japanese Government-General of Korea enacted the ‘Pre-servation Order for Joseon’s National Treasures, Historic Sites, FamousScenic Spots, and Natural Monuments’ (｢朝鮮寶物古蹟名勝天然記念物保存令｣). This legislation classified and designated colonial-era Korea’s heri-tage as national treasures, historic sites, famous scenic spots, and naturalmonuments, marking the inception of their preservation and management. Official documents issued by the Department of Education in the KoreanGovernor-General’s Office (朝鮮總督府 學務局) and Provincial GovernmentOffices (各道) between 1938 and 1945, pertaining to the establishment ofstone marks for designated heritage sites, are preserved at the NationalMuseum of Korea. This study aims to these documents to ascertain the commencement ofstone mark installations, interpret the legal guidelines governing theirestablishment, and uncover the motives behind their creation. Additionally,it aims to elucidate the administrative procedures employed by the KoreanGovernor-General’s Office in implementing these marks. Furthermore, itexamines the specifications, styles, and construction standards provided bythe Department of Education to the Provincial Government Offices for theestablishment of these marks. This research confirms that during the late period of Japanese colonialrule, the establishment of stone marks by the Korean Governor-General’sOffice served as a passive method for preserving and managing designatedheritages in colonial Korea.
