특수학교 전공과 저경력 교사로 살아가기

국문 초록

이 연구는 질적연구 방법을 통해 특수학교 전공과에 근무하는 저경력 교사들이 겪는 다양한 경험들을 알아보고 이들의 적응과정 속에서 어떠한 요구들이 있는지 알아보기 위한 목적이 있었다. 특수학교 전공과에 근무하는 5명의 저경력 교사를 대상으로 2022년 11월부터 약 3개월간의 기간 동안 심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하여 귀납적으로 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 특수학교 전공과에 근무하는 저경력 교사들은 전공과 교육과정 운영, 인간관계, 학생지도에 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 다음으로, 연구 참여자들은 전공과 교육과정 운영, 인간관계에 적응하며 살아가고 전공과의 가치를 찾아가고 있었다. 마지막으로, 연구 참여자들은 스스로 성장에 필요한 역량을 탐색했으며, 교육관이 형성되고 성장함을 경험하였다. 그리고 저경력 교사의 성장을 위한 지원이 필요함을 느꼈다. 이 연구 결과는 특수학교 전공과에 근무하는 저경력 교사의 교직적응을 돕기 위한 기초자료로 활용하여 전공과 교육 내실화에 도움이 될 것이라고 기대된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the diverse experiences of the special school teachers with less teaching experiences and thereby, examine their demands in the course of their adaptation. Method: the researcher used the snowball sampling to select 5 special school teachers with less teaching experiences. The data were collected for about 3 months from Nov. 2022 to Feb. 2023. The data collected were inductively analyzed through the three-stage open coding. Results: Above all, it was found that the special school teachers were experiencing diverse difficulties. First, they were experiencing difficulties in operating their major curriculum. Secondly, the teachers were experiencing difficulties in their relationships with school manager and parents. Thirdly, the special school teachers were experiencing difficulties in teaching their students. Next, the special school teachers were adapting themselves to their workplace. First, they were looking for a pleasure, while operating their major curriculum. Secondly, they were surmounting the difficulties in their relationships with school manager, parents and forming some positive relationships with them. Thirdly, they were finding the significance of their major, while looking for its diverse values. Lastly, the special school teachers were growing in their job. First, they were exploring the competence required for their growth, reflecting on their growth process. Secondly, they were experiencing that their view of education was being formed, while they were growing. Thirdly, they felt that various supports would be necessary for their growth. Conclusion: It is expected that the results of this study would be used as some basic data to help the special school teachers adapt to their working environment and enhance their professionalism, and help them substantialize their major education.
