한국과 일본의 초기 알퐁스 도데 수용 및 번역을 위한 보론

국문 초록

최근 프랑스에서 출판된 『알퐁스 도데 사전』에 누락되어 있는 한국의 알퐁스 도데 수용 및 번역을 다시 검토하는 것이 본 논문의 출발점이었다. 도데의 가장 유명한 단편에 해당하는 ｢마지막 수업｣과 관련되는 한국의 주요 선행 연구들을 다시 살펴보고, 기존 연구의 미진한 부분이나 새로 보완될 필요가 있다고 여겨지는 내용을 더하는 충실한 ‘보론’의 작성에 본고의 주안점을 두었다. 이를 위해 김태식, 윤대석, 김태연, 박진영 등의 논의를 재검토하였으며, 초기 알퐁스 도데의 일본 수용사와 그 의의를 개괄하였다. 아울러 바바 고초, 고토 스에오, 오자키 코요 등에 의해 이루어진 초기 일본 번역의 특징을 살펴보았으며, 최남선, 쳔득(피천득) 등의 번역과 일역의 상관 관계를 재차 따져보았다. 또 기존 연구에서 행해지지 않았던 ｢마지막 수업｣의 일본의 교과서 수록 양상을 짚어보았고, 관련하여 쳔득(피천득)의 번역을 중심으로 초등 국정 교과서에 실린 ｢마지막 수업｣의 실상을 재검토하였다. 그리고 해방 이후 번역된 권명수, 박인희 등의 번역에 대한 논의를 통해, 오늘날까지 130여 종에 달하는 번역이 이루어진 한국의 「마지막 수업」 번역 대부분이 ‘의미 전달에 큰 문제가 없는 번역’이자 여러 번역본들 사이에 미묘하게 얽힌 영향관계를 보인다는 점을 논의하였다. 마지막으로 차후 연구 과제인 북한의 알퐁스 도데 수용 및 번역에 대한 전망을 통해 소략한 결론을 맺었다.

영문 초록

The starting point of this paper was to review the acceptance and translation of Alphonse Daudet in Korea, which was omitted in the Alphonse Daudet Dictionary recently published in France. This paper reexamined Korea's major prior studies related to Daudet's most famous short story, La Dernière Classe and focused on writing a supplementary thesis that adds insufficient parts of existing research or contents that need to be newly supplemented. To this end, discussions by Kim Tae-sik, Yoon Dae-seok, Kim Tae-yeon, and Park Jin-young were reviewed, and the significance of the early Alphonse Daudet's Japanese acceptance history and its significance were summarized. In addition, we looked at the characteristics of early Japanese translations made by Baba Kocho, Koto Sueo, and Ozaki Koyo, and re-examined the correlation between translations such as Choe Nam-sun and Pi Chun-deuk. In addition, we examined the aspects of the inclusion of Japanese textbooks in La Dernière Classe, which were not conducted in previous studies, and reviewed the reality of La Dernière Classe in elementary state textbooks, focusing on the translation of Pi Chun-deuk. In addition, through discussions on translations by Kwon Myung-soo and Park In-hee, which were translated after liberation, it was discussed that most of Korea's La Dernière Classe translations, which have been translated more than 130 to this day, are translation without major problems in conveying meaning. Finally, a brief conclusion was reached through the prospect of North Korea's acceptance and translation of Alphonse Daudet, a future research project.
