국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 부모의 긍정양육과 중학생의 자아존중감, 스마트폰 의존및 학업열의의 관계를 분석하고, 부모의 긍정양육과 학업열의의 관계에서 자아존중감과 스마트폰 의존의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 「한국아동·청소년패널조사 2018」 중학교 1학년 패널 3차년도 자료를 활용하여총 2,359명의 자료를 구조방정식 모형으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 부모의 긍정양육은중학생의 학업열의에 직접적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부모의 긍정양육은 중학생의 자아존중감과 스마트폰 의존을 매개로 학업열의에 간접적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 중학생의 학업열의를높이기 위해서는 부모의 긍정적 양육태도가 중요하게 고려되어야 한다는 점을 시사한다. 또한 자녀가 부모의 양육태도를 긍정적으로 인식할수록 자아존중감은 높아지며높은 자아존중감을 가진 학생들은 학업에 보다 더 높은 열의를 가질 뿐만 아니라스마트폰 의존이 낮아짐에 따라 학업열의는 증가할 수 있다는 점을 뒷받침한다. 이연구는 중학생의 학업열의 향상을 위해서 부모의 긍정양육의 중요성과 함께 학생들의자아존중감 강화 및 스마트폰 의존을 감소시키기 위한 교육적, 정서적 환경의 필요성을 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between parents’ positive parenting and middle school students’ self-esteem, smartphone dependence, and academic engagement, and to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem and smartphone dependence in the relationship between parents’ positive parenting and academic engagement. To this end, data from a total of 2,359 students were analyzed with a structural equation model using the data from the 3rd year of the 1st grade of a middle school panel of the 「Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018」 in the Korea Youth Policy Institute. As a result of the study, it was found that parental positive parenting had a statistically significant direct effect on academic engagement. In addition, it was found that positive parenting had a statistically significant indirect effect on academic engagement through middle school students’ self-esteem and smartphone dependence. These results suggest that positive parenting attitudes of parents are important to increase academic engagement in middle school students. Furthermore, the more positive the child’s parenting attitude is, the higher their self-esteem is, and students with high self-esteem not only can engage in their studies with more engagement, but also their academic engagement can increase as their smartphone dependence decreases. This study suggests that parental positive parenting is not only a crucial factor that directly affects academic engagement but also can have a significant impact on academic engagement through middle school students’ self-esteem and smartphone dependence.
