청소년 통일의식과 통일교육에 대한 반성적 고찰

국문 초록

이 글에서는 청소년 통일의식 약화의 원인을 분석함으로써 현재의 통일교육을 반성적 차원에서 검토하고, 향후 통일교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 제안하였다. 최근수년 동안 학교 현장에서 세계시민교육이 강조되면서 민족주의 관점에서의 통일 필요성 논거가 학생들에게 미치는 소구력이 점차 약화하고 있다. 그리고 통일 편익으로대표되는 실용주의 통일 필요성 논거는 구체성이 확보되지 못하여 막연한 청사진에머물고 있으며 학생들이 통일편익보다 통일비용에 더욱 주목하면서 오히려 통일을부정적으로 생각하게끔 하는 단초를 제공해 주었다. 한편, 평화주의 통일 필요성 논거는 통일 직후 실현 가능한 우리 삶의 평화적 변화를 제시함으로써 먼 미래에 실현가능한 경제적 이익에 비해 매력적인 논거로 학생들에게 받아들여질 수 있다. 따라서평화주의 관점에서 통일 필요성 논거를 보완하고 강화하여 통일의 필요성에 대한소구력을 높이고, 새로운 내용요소 발굴 및 기존 내용요소를 최신화하여 통일교육의흥미를 높여야 하며, 고교학점제용 통일 과목 개발 및 교양과목 개설을 통해 통일교육의 내실화를 추구할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

In this article, the current unification education was reviewed from the perspective of reflection by analyzing the cause of the weakening of youth unification consciousness. It also suggested the direction that unification education should go in the future. With the recent emphasis on global citizenship education, the argument for the necessity of unification from the perspective of nationalism is gradually weakening. And the argument for the necessity of unification from pragmatism provided a clue for students to think negatively about unification, paying more attention to the cost of unification than to the benefits of unification. On the other hand, the argument for the need for pacifist unification can be recognized by students as an attractive argument compared to economic benefits that can be realized in the distant future by presenting peaceful changes in our lives that can be realized immediately after unification. Therefore, from the perspective of pacifism, the argument for the necessity of unification must be supplemented and strengthened to increase the appeal for the necessity of unification. In addition, interest in unification education should be increased by discovering new content elements and updating existing content elements. In addition, it is necessary to pursue substantialization of unification education through the development of unification subjects for the high school credit system and the establishment of liberal arts subjects.
