국문 초록

조선초기 이래 아산만의 중심 포구는 공진포였다. 공진포는 조운 제도 덕분에 중심성을 가질 수 있었다. 그러나 조운 제도의 문제와 대동법의 시행으로 변화가 나타났다. 다른 포구에서 곡물을 운송하게 되자어업 기지로 성장하고 있던 백석포가 주요 포구로 등장하게 된 것이다. 아산만 유역의 여러 포구가 등장하면서 중앙정부와 왕실에서도 그 이익을 노리게 되었다. 그 과정에서 새롭게 등장한 포구는 둔포였다. 둔포는포구이면서 시장을 모두 갖춘 공간이었다. 백석포가 어업 기지의 역할만 담당한 데에 반하여 둔포는 어염이 모여 유통이 되는 시장이 크게발달하였다. 둔포의 포구가 발달하면서 보부상 집단이 등장하였고, 둔포를 중심으로 하는 큰 시장권이 형성되었다. 둔포 중심의 시장권에 변화를 야기한 요인은 경부선 철도의 부설이었다. 평택역 앞에 시장이 개설되면서 주요 물품은 평택장으로 집산되었다. 이처럼 둔포장은 19세기말이 되어서야 대시장권을 형성할 수 있었으나, 둔포의 성쇠는 오래가지 못하였다.

영문 초록

Since the early Joseon Dynasty, the central port of Asan Bay has beenGongjinpo. Gongjinpo was able to have a centrality thanks to the Jounsystem. However, problems with the shipping system and the implemen-tation of the Daedong Act brought about changes. As grains were trans-ported from other ports, Baekseokpo, which was growing as a fishing base,emerged as a major port. As several inlets in the Asan Bay basin appeared, the central governmentand the royal family also began to seek profits. In the process, the newport that appeared was the dunpo. Dunpo was a port and a space equip-ped with all markets. While Baekseokpo only played the role of a fishingbase, Dunpo developed a market where fish and salt were collected anddistributed. As the muzzle of the dunpo developed, a group of peddlersappeared. A large market area centered on Dunpo was formed. The change in the market area centered on Dunpo was the laying of theGyeongbu Line railroad. When a market was opened in front of Pyeong-taek Station, major goods were moved there. It was not until the end ofthe 19th century that a large market was formed, but the rise and declineof Dunpo did not last long.
