청각장애 중〮고등학생의 미디어 이용과 교육 현황

국문 초록

연구목적: 이 연구에서는 청각장애 중·고등학생의 미디어 이용과 미디어교육 현황을 분석하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 문헌 분석과 전문가 협의회를 거쳐 설문 문항을 개발하고 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과: 첫째, 청각장애 학생이 가장 많이 사용하는 소셜미디어는 SNS였고, 동영상 플랫폼, 메신저 서비스, 인터넷 포털, 온라인 카페, 온라인 블로그, 메타버스 플랫폼 순으로 많이 사용하였다. 소셜미디어를 사용하는 이유는 대화/소통뿐만 아니라 다양한 콘텐츠나 정보/뉴스를 얻는 목적이 있어서 일반 청소년보다 사용 이유가 더 다양했다. 청각장애인 지원 앱을 조사한 결과, 활용 경험이 없는 경우가 가장 많아 청각장애 학생에게 유용한 앱이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청각장애 학생 대상 미디어교육 현황을 살펴보면, 학교에서 받은 미디어교육 내용은 온라인 예절(네티켓) 교육, 온라인 개인 정보 보호 방법, 정보 검색, 동영상 촬영과 편집이 높은 비중을 차지하였고, 팩트 체크, 비판적 평가, 뉴스의 공정성 판단은 상대적으로 낮았다. 미디어 활용을 학습한 경로를 조사한 결과, 혼자 연습, 학교 선생님, 친구나 선배, 부모님, 미디어교육 강사와 같이 학교 밖 선생님 순이었다. 이는 학교에서 청각장애 학생을 위하여 체계적이고 효율적으로 미디어교육이 이루어지고 있지 않음을 시사한다. 이 연구 결과는 청각장애 학생의 미디어 활용 현황을 토대로 적절한 미디어교육 프로그램을 구성하고 실행하는 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: In this study, media use and media education status of Deaf and Hard of Hearing(DHH) adolescents were analyzed, and the results of the study are as follows. method: To achieve the purpose of the study, questionnaire items were developed and a questionnaire survey was conducted through literature analysis and expert consultation. Results: First, the most used social media by DHH adolescents was SNS, followed by video platform, messenger service, internet portal, online cafe, online blog, and metaverse platform. The reason for using social media was not only for conversation/communication, but also for the purpose of obtaining various contents or information/news, so the reasons for using social media were more diverse than that of hearing teenagers. As a result of examining applications for DHH adolescents, it was found that there is a lack of useful applications for DHH students as most of them have no experience in using them. Second, the contents of media education received at school accounted for a high proportion of online etiquette(netiquette) education, online personal information protection methods, information search, video filming and editing, followed by fact-checking and critical criticism. Evaluation and fairness judgment of news were relatively low. The path of learning to use media was in the order of self-practice, school teacher, friend or senior, parents, and out-of-school teachers such as media education instructors. This suggests that media education is not being carried out systematically and efficiently for students with hearing impairments in schools.
