상권관리기구 설립의 전통시장 활성화 효과에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 지자체의 상권활성화 사업을 전담하기 위해 설립된 상권관리기구의 경제적 효과를 분석한다. 특히, 상권관리기구의 상권활성화 노력이 전통시장의 경제적 성과에 미친 영향을 추정한다. 이를위해, 전통시장 패널자료와 이중차분 추정법을 사용하여 상권관리기구가 설립된 지자체에 위치한전통시장(처치그룹)과 그렇지 않은 지자체에 위치한 전통시장(통제그룹)을 구분하여 경제적 성과의차이를 추정한다. 본 연구의 추정결과에 따르면, 상권관리기구가 설립된 지자체에 속하는 전통시장이그렇지 않은 시장에 비해 경제적 성과가 더 우수하다. 이는 소멸하고 있는 지역 상권을 보호하고전통시장 상권을 활성화하기 위해서는 지원 활동을 전담 관리하는 조직의 설치 및 관리 체계가 필요하다는 점을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This paper studies the economic effects of the commercial district management organization established to implement the local government’s commercial district revitalization project. Using Korean traditional market panel data and a difference-in-difference estimation method, we estimate the difference in economic performance between traditional markets with the commercial district management organization and those without it. According to the estimation results, Korean traditional markets with the commercial district management organization have better economic performance than those without it. This implies that it is necessary to establish and manage an organization dedicated to support activities in order to revitalize Korean traditional market business districts.
