국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 세계 96개 국가에 있어서 1991-2020년 기간에 발생된 새로운 경제성장형태의 정형화된 사실을 연구하는 것이다. 이와 함께, 데이터 자료를 경제전환 전 후 및 성장률의 분위별로 ⋅ 나누어 이분산 회귀분석에 의해 경제성장의 결정요인을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구의 결과, 지난 30년동안 대륙별보다는 개별적인 국가의 역량에 의해 성장이 이루어진 것을 발견하였다. 또한, 기존의연구들과 다르게, 본 논문의 분위별 실증분석에서 발견된 것은 다음과 같다. 즉, 경제성장률이 낮은국가에서는, 첫째, 국가의 경제 사회적 자유도, 환율의 평가절하 및 정부지출의 증가는 경제성장에 ⋅ 부(-)의 영향을 주었다. 둘째, 따라잡기 효과 혹은 소득의 수렴이 일어나지 않았다. 셋째, 아시아 아프 ⋅ 리카에 속한 국가들의 성장형태는 국가별로 양극화 현상이 일어나고 있으나, 유럽과 라틴아메리카에속한 국가들은 대륙별 하향 평준화를 보였다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 경제정책의 유효성은 정책지원의 규모뿐 아니라 여러 형태의 경제 사회적 요소에 달려있다는 시사성을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This study has attempted to sketch out the new stylized facts of economic growth patterns in 1991-2020 for 96 countries around the world, and to analyze the determinants of economic growth by dividing the data into before/after the economic shift of paradigm and two quantiles by the growth rates in each country. Based on the empirical study in this paper, three major findings are offered. First, the economic growth has been driven by the capability of individual countries rather than by clusters or continents. Second, what stands out the most from the quantile regression analysis is that the explanatory variables including the level of freedom, depreciation of exchange rates, and fiscal expenses show negative effects on economic growth in the first quantile. Third, in a nutshell, one of the main challenges of this study is a dummy variable analysis of the continent, which the results support an existence of polarization between high and low-growth countries in Africa and Asia, while there has been a clustering and downward-leveling effect in Europe and Latin America in economic growth. Therefore, this paper provides a policy implication that the effect of economic policy in each country depends not only on the amount of policy support but also on various socio-economic factors.
