한국 초등학교 수학교과서에 제시된 각(角)의 정의에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

한국 초등학교 수학교과서에는 각이 두 개의 반직선으로 이루어진 도형으로 정의되어 있으나, 선분으로 구성된 사물이나 다각형에서 각을 찾아보게 하는 등, 각의 정의와 이후 활동에 모순적 요소들이 존재한다. 이 연구는 이러한 문제를 체계적으로 분석하고 해결방안을 모색하고자 시도되었다. 이를 위해 1차 교육과정부터 2009개정 교육과정에 이르기까지 역대 초등학교 수학교과서를 수집하고, 그것으로부터 각과 관련 내용을 추출하여 분석대상으로 삼았다. 분석결과, 한국의 역대 초등학교 수학교과서는 공통적으로 각을 도형관점으로 정의하여 왔으나, 각의 구성요소인 각의 변에 대한 관점과 그림보기는 교육과정별로 큰 차이를 보였다. 또한 각의 정의, 각의 정의와 직각의 정의 사이, 각 및 직각의 정의와 이후 활동 사이에서 모순적 요소들이 지속적으로 발견되었다. 따라서 차후 교과서 개발 시 이러한 모순적 요소들이 드러나지 않도록 정의방식 및 이후 활동 내용을 재고할 필요성을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The present research work considers that there are many contradictory elements in the way ‘angle’ is defined and presented in the Korean elementary mathematics textbooks (KEMT). Henceforth, an effort has been made to systematically analyze the problems and seek solutions from the past KEMT. All the textbooks from the starting to the recent curriculum were collected and definitions and subsequent activities of angle, right angle, and angle measure from the books were analyzed. Based on the analysis, it was apparent that KEMT had commonly defined angle as a geometric standpoint, but illustrations of angle and views on the 'sides of angle' included in the definitions of angle were significantly different between curriculums. In addition, contradictory elements were continuously found in the definitions of the angle, between the definitions of angle and right angle, and between the definitions of angle and subsequent activities. Accordingly, it is proposed to reconsider the way angle is defined and design subsequent activities so as not to reveal the contradictory elements in the futuristic development of textbooks.
