백제계 渡來人 정체성에 대한 일 고찰

국문 초록

백제계 渡來⼈의 정체성을 백제 遺⺠과 연결을 지어 밝히려 한 본 연구는, 먼저 渡來⼈ 의 정체성의 양태를 백제 渡來⼈의 地名, 姓氏 등에서 찾았다. ‘⼤僧正舍利甁記’의 ‘百濟 왕자’, 俗姓 ‘高志’씨의 분석, ⾏基 고향에 왕인 후예 성씨들이 많이 살았다는 점에 주목하였다. 『新撰姓氏錄』의 도래계 성씨 및 백강 전투에 참여한 인물들도 분석하였다. 다음으로 渡來⼈이 그들의 정체성을 형성해 나가는 과정을 밝혔다. 일본 고대문화의 鼻祖인왕인 후예라는 자부심을 바탕으로 渡來⼈은 그들의 정체성을 수백 년 동안 지켰다. 渡來⼈을위한 숙박 시설, 마한‧백제와 관련이 있는 말(馬) 사육 및 도요지 유적 등을 분석하여 河內, 和泉 등 여러 곳에서 渡來⼈ 후예들은 동족집단을 이루었고, ⻄琳寺, 葛井寺, 野中寺 등 氏寺를건립하였음을 살폈다. 이러한 요인들이 정체성 형성에 중요한 요인으로 작용하였음을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 백제 遺⺠과 渡來⼈ 후예의 결합과정 및 정체성 이완 과정을 밝혔다. 皇子 시절부터 실권을 장악한 天武天皇은, 백강 전투 이후 백제 유민들의 지지를 받아내고자그의 영향력이 미치는 곳에 유민들을 이주시키고 관직을 주었다. 이미 그곳의 토착 渡來⼈ 후예들은, 蘇我氏를 무너뜨린 天智天皇보다, 그들에게 우호적인 天武天皇과 밀접한 관계를 형성하였다. 도래인 후예와 유민들의 도움을 받은 天武天皇은, 天智天皇 아들 ⼤友皇子와의 왕위계승 싸움에서 승리하였다. 天武天皇 집권 기간 도래인 후예와 유민들은 백제계로서의 정체성을 형성하는데 유리한 상황이 갖추어졌다. 백제 유민이 그들의 정체성을 유지하는 데는 渡來 ⼈ 후예와의 만남이 결정적으로 작용하였다. 한편, 天武天皇 때 실각하였으나 持統天皇 때 그의 딸을 왕비로 삼아 권력을 장악한 藤原不 比等은, 渡來⼈ 후예와 유민들을 탄압하였다. 하지만 渡來⼈ 후예와 유민들의 강고한 정체성은 藤原不比等의 압력을 이겨내는 원동력이었다. 왕인 후예 ⼤僧正 행기가 이들의 구심점에 있었다. 백제계로서의 정체성은, ⾏基가 입적한 이후 급속히 약화되었다. 왕인 후예들이 漢系로 개변을 시도하는 사례는 이를 상징적으로 보여준다. 일본 정부는 백제 유민에게는 ‘百濟王氏’를, 渡來⼈ 후예에게는 『新撰姓氏錄』 등재를 통해 체제 내로 회유하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to clarify the identity of the people of Kudara Toraiins and the process of its change. First, the aspect of Toraiins was confirmed. The aspect of Kudara's Toraiins can be found in the place name and surname. ‘A reliquary bottle document of the Great Bishop’, the analysis of secular surname ‘Goshi’, and the fact that there lived a lot of descendants of Wani in Gyoki’s hometown. The identity is also seen in the surname of Kudra recorded in Shinsen shōjiroku(新撰姓氏錄). In addition, it can be found in the descendants of Toraiins who participated in the Battle of Baekgang River. Next, the background of Toraiins' identity formation was examined. The identity was confirmed in the following. In the reliquary bottle document of The Great a Bishop, Gyoki was called the prince of Kudara, Wani. It has been already thought that Gyoki’s mother was Kudarajin, a Toraiin of Kudara origins. Gyoki made accommodation facilities for the arrival of people, and there are horse breeding and pottery relics related to Baekje. Clans of the same origin lived in groups in the areas of Kawachi and Ismi. A family temple was also established. Through this, identity was formed. Lastly, it revealed the process of bonding and identity relaxation between Baekje migrants and the descendants of Toraiins. After the Battle of Baekgang River, many Kudara refugees immigrated to Japan. Emperor Tenmu emigrated the royal family and nobles among these migrants to the area of his influence. And he gave them office. It was to get their support. The descendants of Toraiins also supported Emperor Tenmu. The descendants of Toraiins and the refugees united with their identity as Baekje. Emperor Tenmu won the battle for succession to the throne with the son of Emperor Tenji with the support of the descendants and the refugees. They established their identity during the reign of Emperor Tenmu. However, the descendants and refugees who came from the time of Emperor Jitou were oppressed by Hujiwarahubito(藤原不比等). Nevertheless, the identity of the descendants of Toraiins and the migrants were able to overcome the oppression of Hujiwarahubito. Gyoki played a role in connecting the descendants of Toraiins and the refugees. The Japanese government registered the surname “Baekje Wang” to the migrants and “Shinsen shōjiroku” to the descendants of Toraiins to conciliate. Theidentity of Toraiins and the migrants of Baekje was weakened after the death of Gyoki.
