국어 문법 교육의 원리 탐구

국문 초록

이 글에서는 2007년 개정 초등 국어과 교육과정과 교과서, 2011년 고시된 국어과 교육과정에서 문법 관련 내용이 어떻게 다루어지고 있는지, 교육과정상에서 문법 교육의 가치와 성격이 무엇인지를 살펴보고, 이에 부합하는 문법 교육의 원리가 무엇인지를 탐색해 보았다. 2007년 개정 교육과정의 국어과 교육의 성격과 목표에서는 국어 활동, 국어 사용에 기반이 되는 문법 지식과 그에 대한 탐구가 강조된 데 비해, 2011 교육과정에서는 이뿐만 아니라 문화적인 측면의 문법 지식이 한층 강화되었음을 분석했다. 문법 지식의 이와 같은 성격에 부합하는 문법 교육의 원리로 여기서는 사고성의 원리, 도구성의 원리, 문화성의 원리에 대해 논의했다. 특히 국어 현상에 대한 탐구 활동이 교육과정 상으로는 강조되어 왔음에도 불구하고 교과서나 교수-학습 활동에서는 거의 고려되고 있지 못함을 비판하고, 개선 방안을 제시하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study is to investigate the principles of Korean grammar education which are complied with Korean language curriculum. To this end, this study explored the actual conditions of Korean grammar contents in the revised 2007 and 2011 curriculum and of the activities for teaching and learning Korean grammar in elementary school textbooks. Next, the debate was conducted on three principles for effective Korean grammar education―the principles of thinking property, instrumental property, and cultural property. Since the sixth national curriculum, the Korean language curriculum has put special emphasis on exploration activities for the development of the thinking powers that is required especially when deriving rules from grammatical phenomenon. However, the exploration activities have rarely been considered in textbooks and teaching-learning activities for Grammar class [for grammar classes]. Therefore, this study suggests that exploration activities should be realized in Korean language curriculum as well as in textbooks and teaching-learning activities. This is associated with the principle of thinking property of Korean grammar education. Meanwhile, Korean grammar was regarded as the knowledge based on communicative abilities in some cases as well as the knowledge of Korean culture in other cases. The former is related to the instrumental property of Korean grammar and the latter is involved with its cultural property. This paper stresses that Korean grammar education should encompass the aforementioned principles in elementary schools.
