국문 초록

인류는 수천 년의 인류 발전사에서 실용성과 심미성을 결합한 새로운 사물(object)을 계속 출현시켰다. 그중에서 장신구는 주로 인체 또는 의상에 착용되며 각 시대에 따른 재료의 가치, 장식적인 기능 등을 보여주었다. 사회의 변화와 리듬이 빨라지고 과학의 발달로 신소재, 새로운 관념이 계속 유입되면서 현대 장신구 작가들은 전통적인 장신구의 사회적 기능성 등을 극복하고, 장신구의 새로운 조형 형태에 대한 추구와 함께 그들의 생각과 감정을 담고 있는 예술적 조형물로 장신구를 제작하게 되었다. 본 연구는 1960년대부터 구체적으로 전개되기 시작한 키네틱 장신구에 관한 조사, 분석으로 ‘움직임’을 조형 요소로 탐구하는 ‘키네틱 아트(Kinetic Art)’의 발달과 특징 등을 알아보았다. 그리고 ‘움직임’이란 흥미로운 요소를 장신구에 부여함으로써 새로이 만들어지는 가변적 조형성을 통하여 현대 장신구 작가들이 연구, 제작하는 다양한 키네틱 장신구의 사례와 특징, 그리고 조형성 등을 분석하였다. 이러한 키네틱 장신구 연구를 통해 장신구의 ‘장식성’뿐만 아니라 연출이 가능한 ‘움직임’과 ‘변화’의 즐거움을 줄 수 있으며, 착용자나 관람자와의 교감을 통해 상호 반응하는 ‘적극적인 예술’로서의 가능성을 찾아보고자 한다.

영문 초록

Humanity has continued to emerge new objects that combine practicality and aesthetics in the history of human development for thousands of years. Among them, jewelry was mainly worn in the human body or costumes, showing the value of materials and decorative functions according to each age. With the change in society and the development of science, new materials and new ideas continue to flow in, and contemporary jewelry writers overcome the stale preconditions of jewelry in the past and created jewelry with artistic sculptures that contain their thoughts and feelings along with the pursuit of new forms of jewelry. This study investigated the development and characteristics of kinetic art against the backdrop of Kinetic Art, which explores ‘movement’ as a formative element, through research and analysis on kinetic jewelry that began to develop in detail in the 1960s. In addition, by giving interesting elements of ‘movement’ to jewelry, the examples, characteristics, and formability of various kinetic jewelry researched and produced by modern jewelry artists were analyzed through the newly created variable formability. Through the study of these kinetic ornaments, it is possible to provide not only the ‘decorability’ of the ornaments but also the pleasure of ‘movement’ and ‘change’ that can be directed, and to find the possibility of an ‘active art’ that reacts through communication with the wearer or viewer.
