조선 시대 시문과 그림 속의 평양 능라도

국문 초록

능라도는 평양 명승의 중요한 자연 공간이자 문화 공간이다. 능라도의 명칭과 경관은 평양 유람객의 조망과 완상의 핵심적 기능을 하였다. 중국 사신은 능라도를 평양 경관의 한 부분이나 단독 소재로 시를 지었고, 접대하는 우리나라 시인들도 그 시운과 시상을 따랐는데, 후대의 시인들이 계승하여 전통을 만들었다. 부벽루를 찾거나 대동강의 유람선을 타고 가는 유람객들은 주로 낭만적 감성으로 시상을 전개하였다. 능라도는 상상적 정서 발산의 장소로도 기능하였다. 때로는 이상적이고 몽환적인 곳으로 표현되었다. 능라도에 판소리 공연 상황을 그려 평양을 문화 예술 도시로 묘사하기도 하고, 세조 때의 무과 시험 고사를 염두에 두고 부벽루에서 활을 쏠 때 설치한 과녁을 그려 넣어 선대왕을 추억하고 왕실을 선양하기도 하였다. 생활 속의 능라도는 수박의 특산지이기도 하지만 장마 등 자연재해에 취약하여 피해를 많이 보기도 하였다. 이런 현실 속의 능라도는 여행자의 시선이나 문인의 상상적 정서가 반영된 시문과 그림에 묘사된 낭만적인 능라도와는 상당히 달랐다.

영문 초록

Neungra Island was a traditionally significant spot in the both natural and cultural reputation of Pyongyang during the Joseon period. The name itself and scenery of the island attracted the travelers to Pyongyang. Chinese envoys who came to Pyongyang composed poems about Neungra Island as a part of the Pyongyang landscape or as a sole subject, which led Korean scholars to respond with the same rhyming poems. Later Korean poets succeeded them to create a remarkable literary tradition. Tourists who visited to Bugyeok Pavilion along the Deadong River flowing across Pyongyang or went on a cruise ship on the river enjoyed writing poems with romantic appreciation of Nengra lsland. Neungra Island also functioned as a place for imaginative emotional release. It was sometimes expressed as an ideal and dreamy place. The island was depicted as a cultural and artistic city in the paintings drawing pansori, a traditional Korean folk theater performance, on Neungra Island, and a target place of bow shooting at the Bubyeok Pavilion with the martial arts test during the reign of King Sejo. These paintings evoked the memory of the previous king and the admiration of the royal family. However, the actual situation of Neungra Island was different from the ideal images depicted in the poems and paintings that reflected the traveler's gaze and the literary imagination. The island was famous for producing watermelons, but it was also damaged a lot due to its vulnerability to natural disasters such as the rainy season.
