국문 초록

목적: 교과서 서사를 주로 따르는 다수의 어린이 역사책과 달리 『질문으로 시작하는 한국사』는 기존의 서사를 바꾸어 보려는 의도로 기획되었다. 방법: 이에 체계기능언어학 중 동성 체계(transitivity system)와 평가어(appraisal system)를 활용하여 대몽항쟁 단원을 중심으로 이 책의 서사 변화를 살펴보았다. 연구주제는 첫째, 대몽항쟁에서 주요 역사행위자는 누구이며 이들의 행위는 어떻게 다루어지는가? 둘째, 대몽항쟁 서사는 어떻게 구성되었는가?이다. 결과: 분석 결과, 대몽항쟁 서술은 지배층의 무능과 백성의 역할이 강조되었다. 백성을 역사의 주인공으로 삼고, 항쟁 이후의 원과 경제교류를 다루었다. 국가, 민족을 주인공으로 하고 항쟁 이후 원의 간섭과 반원자주정책으로 이어지는 교과서 서사와 달라졌음을 알 수 있다. 결론: 그러나 여전히 ‘이민족 침략을 물리친 우리 민족’이라는 침략과 저항의 서사에서 완전히 벗어나지 못하였다. 백성을 포함하여 다양한 역사행위자가 어떤 선택을 했는지를 맥락에 맞게 서술하고 원 간섭기라는 제약된 상황에서 이루어진 여러 교류를 서술하여 서사를 보완한다면 집필자들의 의도를 더 선명하게 드러낼 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in the narrative focusing on the Daemong Struggle unit using the transitivity system and appraisal system among system functional linguistics. Methods: In order to accomplish this research purpose, the following research questions are constructed. First, who are the major historical actors in the Great Dream Uprising and how do they deal with their actions? Second, how was the narrative of the Great Dream Uprising composed? Results: The findings of data analysis showed that the narrative of the Daemong Struggle emphasized the incompetence of the ruling class and the leading role of the ordinary people. It takes ordinary people as the protagonists of history, and deals with economic exchanges with the Won dynasty after the Daemong Struggle Conclusion: However, there are still traces that have not completely escaped from the narrative of aggression and resistance that is “our nation that has defeated the invasion of foreigner”. The intentions of the writers would have been better revealed if the narrative was supplemented by describing the choices made by various historical actors, including the ordinary people, in context, and by describing the various human and material exchanges that took place under the constrained circumstances.
