국문 초록

端磎 金麟燮은 조선 말기 영남지역의 대표적인 문인이자 학자의 한 사람이다. 그런데 김인섭이 조부에게 익힌 가학과 성재 허전, 정재 유치명의 학문을 근간으로 자신의 학문을 형성하였다는 점에서 그에 대한 검토는 김인섭이라는 한 인물에 대한 접근을 넘어서 조선 말기 영남지역의 학문 지형도 파악을 위해 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 김인섭이 생각했던 문학은 ‘진실한 내용과 정직한 표현을 통해 개인과 사회의 가치를 증진하고 담아내는 도구’였다고 할 수 있다. 이런 문학 인식은 본질적인 부분에서 김인섭 당대까지 이어져 왔던 학자 일반의 보편적인 문학관과 같은 축에 놓여 있는 것이지만, 미세한 변화가 보인다. 그것은 그의 문학 인식에서 더 이상 문학의 근본이었던 고대로 되돌아갈 수 없지만, 현재의 문학도 충분한 가치를 지닐 수 있다는 인식과 함께 문학의 영향이 개인적인 차원에 머무른다고 하더라도 가치 있다는 생각이 보이기 때문이다. 김인섭의 문학 인식을 허전과 비교해보면 본질적인 부분에서 차이점이 보이지 않는다. 특히 문학에 대한 기본 인식은 이들 사이의 동일함을 넘어 당대의 보편적인 학자들과 유사하고, 창작 방법에서는 근기 성호학파와 유사한 양상을 보인다. 또 이들이 당대의 문학을 긍정하여 가치와 의미를 부여하려고 했다는 점도 동일하다. 하지만 전범의 설정과 학습, 개성과 독창성의 추구라는 부분에서 김인섭은 허전과 비교하여 한 걸음 뒤처져 있는 모습을 보인다.

영문 초록

Dangye Kim Insup is one of the representative writers and scholars in the Yeongnam area in the late Joseon Dynasty. In that Kim Insup formed his own scholarship based on the study of learned by his grandfather and Sungjae Heo Jeon and Jungjae Yu Chimyeong, the approach to Kim Insup is important for understanding the academic topography of Yeongnam area in the late Joseon Dynasty. Kim Insup thought that literature was a tool for promoting personal and social values through genuine content and honest expression. This perception of literature lies on the same axis in the essential part as the universal literary view of scholars who have continued to the time when Kim Insup lived, but there is a slight change. It is because his recognition of literature can not return to the ancient times, which was the basis of literature, but with the recognition that current literature can have sufficient value, and he consider that the influence of literature is worthwhile even if it stays on a personal level. Comparing Kim Insup's perception of literature to Heo Jeon shows no difference in its essential parts. In particular, the basic perception of literature is similar to that of the general scholars of the time, and the method of creation is similar to that of metropolitan Seongho School. It is also the same that they tried to give value and meaning by affirming the literature of the time, but Kim Insup is one step behind Heo Jeon in terms of setting and learning of canon, pursuit of individuality and originality.
