국문 초록

본고는 경상남도 거창에 존재했던 사액서원인 道山書院의 복원 계획 수립을 위한 참고 사례를 검토한 것이다. 서원에 대한 관심과 지원은 ‘세계유산’ 등재 이후 전적으로 ‘한국의 서원’ 9개소에 집중되었으며, 그 외 서원과 미복설 서원에 대해서는 중앙정부의 관심과 지원이 상대적으로 제한적인 실정이다. 이에 각 지방자치단체 주도로 서원에 대한 관리와 활용 계획을 제출하고 있는 상황이며, 미복설 서원의 복원 계획 또한 여러 각도에서 검토하여 준비하고 있다. 2장에서는 문화재 지정 서원과 미복설 서원 현황에 대해 검토하고, 미복설 서원의 입지 위치 선정의 문제에 대한 사례와 제반 법규를 검토함으로써 도산서원 복원의 가능성과 방안에 대해 검토하였다. 3장에서는 도산서원 복원 과정에서 참고할만한 서원 4개소의 복원 사례를 검토하였다. 참고 대상은 먼저 열의를 가지고 또 정치적 역량도 동원하여 복원을 추진하고 있으나 아직 복원 사업이 마무리되지 않은 사례 1건, 후손들에 의해 복원된 것을 개보수를 통해 새로운 서원으로 조성해낸 사례 1건, 거창 도산서원보다 조금 앞서 지표조사를 통해 매장문화재 발굴을 위한 준비 작업까지 마친 사례 1건, 도산서원과 마찬가지로 유허비 하나만 남아 있던 상태에서 복원을 진행 중인 사례 1건을 선별하여 보고한다.

영문 초록

This paper reviewed the reference cases for establishing the restoration plan of Dosanseowon, a private Confucian academy that existed in Geochang, Gyeongsangnam-do. Interest and support for Seowon have been concentrated entirely in nine “Korean Seowon” since it was registered as a World Heritage, and interest and support for other Seowon and not restored Seowon are relatively limited. Accordingly, each local government is submitting management and utilization plans for Seowon, and the restoration plan of the unobserved Seowon is also being reviewed and prepared from various angles. Chapter 2 reviewed the current status of the Confucian academy designated as a cultural property and the not restored Confucian academy, and reviewed cases and laws on the location selection of the not restored Confucian academy and reviewed the possibility and plan for the restoration of Dosanseowon. Chapter 3 reviewed the cases of restoration of four Confucian academies that can be referred to in the process of restoring Dosanseowon. For reference, one case in which the restoration project has not yet been completed, one case in which the restoration project was made into a new Confucian academy through renovation, one case in which preparations for excavation of buried cultural assets were completed a little earlier than Geochang Dosanseowon, and one case in progress.
