국문 초록

나는 이혼한 중년의 상담자이자 대학 교수이다. 나의 이야기는 이혼에 대한 관념이 당사자와 주변 사람들에게 어떠한 심리사회적 경험을 유발하는지를 알아보고, 그 관념의 타당성을 검토하는데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 아울러 이혼 관념을 비판적으로 검토함으로써 나와 주변 사람들이 무엇을 경험하게 되는지 성찰하게 되었다. 나는 이혼 관념에 대한 비판적 검토를 통해 이혼이 ‘실패’나 ‘죄’라는 관념을 다르게 볼 수 있었고, 그 결과 지금-여기의 삶에 조금 더 충실해지는 것을 경험하게 되었다. 다른 표현으로 이혼 관념의 재구성 경험을 통해 나는 나의 선택을 좀 더 온전히 신뢰하게 되었고, 그것을 충분히 책임지는 삶을 살게 되었다고 할 수 있다. 아울러 나 자신이 이러한 삶의 태도를 분명히 할수록 아이, 아이 엄마 역시 더불어 편안해진다는 것을 알게 되었다. 나의 이야기가 이혼 관련 이해당사자들-본인, 전 배우자, 자녀, 부모, 상담자-에게 이혼에 대한 새롭고 기능적인 관점을 갖게 하는데 기여하기를 기대해 본다.

영문 초록

I am a divorced middle-aged man working as a counselor and university professor. My story focuses on examining the psychosocial experiences that the ideas of divorce induce for a person and people around him, and examining the validity of those ideas. In addition, by critically examining the ideas of divorce, I was able to reflect on what I and people around me would experience. Through critical examination of the ideas of divorce, I have been able to develop a different view from the general concept of seeing that divorce is a ‘failure’ or a ‘sin’ and as a result, I was able to focus more on my life here and now. In other words, through the experience of reconstructing the ideas of divorce, I was able to be more confident with my choices and live a life taking full responsibility for those choices. In addition, I found that the stronger and clearer attitude of life I had, the more comfortable my child and his mother would become. I hope that my story may contribute to providing new and functional perspectives on divorce for all the others facing the experiences of divorce-those divorced , ex-spouses, children, parents, and counselors.
