국문 초록

본고에서는 황석영의 『바리데기』에 나타난 환상의 서사에 주목하였다. 환상의 서사는 기호, 공명, 동일성이라는 상황에서 발생하는 것으로, 이는 비극적 현실을 보다 비극적으로, 환상을 보다 환상으로 전개시키는 기능을 하고 있었다. 할머니에게서 물려받는 신적인 능력, 영험한 능력을 통해서 죽은 자와 대면하고, 미래를 점치는 능력이 환상의 서사를 이끌어가는 주된 동력임을 확인할 수가 있는 것이다. 이러한 환상은 죽은 영혼들의 상처와 맞닥트릴 때, 그리고 발 마사지를 통해 타인의 영적인 무의식과 만나는 순간에 극적으로 드러났다. 여기에서 기호가 작동하는데, 그것은 감각과 마주치게 된 우연하고도 필연적인 방식이라 할 수가 있다. 감각이 소생시킨 과거의 진실, 감각이 벗겨낸 이미지들의 진실을 바리가 발 마사지를 통해 확인한다. 그러면서 공명(共鳴) 또한 발생한다. 공명의 효과는 과거와 현재의 순간이 공명하는 것인데, 멀리 떨어진 시간과 대상이 연결되는 것을 말한다. 이 과정에서 바리는 잃어버린 시간과 사건을 되찾거나 되찾아준다. 바리가 손님들의 발을 만지면서 그들의 무의식에 존재하는 경험세계를 현실 세계로 끌어낸다는 것에서 공명의 효과를 확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this paper, we paid attention to Hwang Seok-young's fantasy narrative in Baridegi. The narrative of fantasy occurs in the situation of symbols, resonance, and identity, which functions to develop tragic reality more dramatically and spectacularly through fantasy. Through the divine and spiritual abilities inherited from grandmothers, it can be confirmed that the ability to face the dead and predict the future is the main driving force behind the fantasy narrative. This fantasy was dramatically revealed when confronted with the wounds of the dead souls and the moment when they met the spiritual unconsciousness of others through foot massages. Here, the symbol works, which can be said to be an accidental and inevitable way of encountering the senses. The truth of the past that the senses revived and the truth of the images that the senses peeled off are confirmed through the foot massage. Resonance also occurs. The effect of resonance is the resonance of the past and the present moment, which refers to the connection of distant time and objects. In the process, Bari recovers or at least recovers lost time and events. The effect of resonance is proven by the fact that Bari brings out the experience world that exists in their unconsciousness into the real world by touching the feet of customers.
