국문 초록

본 논문은 신채호의 민족독립을 위한 사상을 바탕으로 한반도 통일의 방향을 살펴보고 있다. 신채호에 있어 민족독립은 한반도의 완전한평화상태를 의미하는 목적지였다. 이를 위한 그의 논리구조는 민족자강과 민족독립의 전략을 바탕으로 시대적 상황에 적합한 전술(애국계몽과무장폭력혁명)을 선택하고 있다. 민족자강을 위한 초기 그의 활동은 민족을 위한 애국계몽운동으로 나타났으며, 식민지 해방을 위한 활동은무장폭력혁명이었다. 또한 이러한 투쟁과정에서 그는 ‘민족정신’과 ‘외경력’의 중요성을 특히 강조하고 있다. 그에게 있어 민족 독립은 애국심(민족정신)을 바탕으로 한 민족과 민중에 의해 가능성이 열려있다고 보고 있었다. 이러한 민족정신을 바탕으로 현시대적 과제인 한반도 통일을 연계하면 다음의 결론에 도달할 수 있다. 한반도 통일은 “자유민주주의”를 전제로 하는 상위목표에, 유동적인 대내외적 방법들을 전술적하위목표로 설정해야 한다. 이를 통해 최근 북한의 변화와 주변 국가들(특히 중·미)의 관계를 정확하게 인식하게, 이에 대한 유연한 대처를요구한다. 민족 공동체를 위한 길은 분단된 60여년의 세월을 극복하는매우 힘든 과정이다. 따라서 현재의 시점에서 가장 적절한 대응은 동질성 회복을 위한 신뢰를 형성하는 것이다.

영문 초록

This study examines a direction of the unification of the Korean Peninsula based on the Shin Chae-ho's thought for national independence. He recognized national independence as a destination that represents complete peace of the Korean Peninsula. In order to achieve national independence, his logical structure chooses appropriate tactics (patriotic enlightenment and people's violent revolution) that suit contemporary circumstances based on strategy for national self-strengthening and independence. Shin Chae-ho's early activity for national self-strengthening represented as a patriotic enlightenment movement and his activity for independence represented as people's violent revolution. He, especially, emphasized the importance of 'the national spirit' and 'international competitiveness' during the process of struggle against Japanese occupation. He recognized that national independence could be achieved by "Minjok(nation)" and "Minjung(people)" that based on patriotism(national spirit). If we connect this national spirit to the unification of the Korean Peninsula, as a epochal task, we can reach the following conclusion. Unification of Korean Peninsula has to be based on "liberal democracy", and viable ways or means for the unification has to remain flexible. Based on this viewpoint, we need to have an accurate recognition for changes of North Korea and relationship with surrounding nations, especially, China and The U.S, and also need flexible response to those circumstances. The way for national community is a difficult and time-consuming process that needs to overcome 60 years-old division of the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, at this point in time, the most proper response to reunification of the Korean Peninsula is formation of trust that recovering national homogeneity.
