유튜브 역사 콘텐츠 스토리텔링의 특징

국문 초록

초·중·고등학생은 유튜브로 다양한 역사 콘텐츠를 접한다. 유튜브의 스토리텔링은 현장성, 현재성, 동시성, 상호작용성 등의 특징을 보인다. 이러한 스토리텔링 방식은 역사 콘텐츠에서도 나타난다. 본고에서는 유튜브 역사 콘텐츠의 스토리텔링 방식을 첫째, 역사 스토리의 순서, 시작과 끝, 둘째, 시각, 셋째, 상호텍스트성과 현재주의, 그리고 넷째, 사실과 상상력 등의 관점에서 분석했다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유튜브에서는 시청자와 알고리즘이 상호작용하면서 역사 서사 혹은 개별 역사 콘텐츠 스토리의 순서를 정한다. 시청자가 스토리텔링에 참여하면서 콘텐츠 스토리의 시작과 끝이 바뀔 수 있다. 시청자는 크리에리터의 스토리를 수동적으로 듣는데 그치지 않고 스토리텔링에 적극적으로 참여한다. 본고에서는 그들을 ‘텔링 참여자’로 부른다. 둘째, 유튜브 역사 콘텐츠의 스토리텔링에서는 크리에이터와 텔링 참여자, 텔링 참여자들이 상호작용하면서 시각이 다중화된다. 셋째, 상호텍스트성과 현재주의가 유튜브 역사 콘텐츠의 스토리텔링에 전반적으로 나타난다. 넷째, 스토리텔링 과정에서 ‘틀린’ 연도나 명칭에 대해서는 철저하게 고증하고 바로 잡으려 하지만 텔링 형식에서는 창의성을 존중한다. 유튜브 역사 콘텐츠가 역사 학습의 유익한 장이 되기 위해서는 교사가 유튜브 역사 콘텐츠 스토리텔링의 특징을 개념적으로 이해하고 학생이 스토리텔링을 분석하고 또 스토리텔링을 직접 할 수 있게 학습 활동을 개발하는 것이 중요하다.

영문 초록

Students use YouTube to access various historical content. YouTube's storytelling is characterized by current, simultaneity, and interactivity. These characteristics also appear in historical content. In this article, the characteristic of the storytelling of YouTube historical content were analyzed as follows: First, in YouTube historical content, viewers determine the sequence of the stories, and the beginning and end of the story may change in the process of exchanging the meaning of the story they have appropriated with content creators and other viewers. This is because viewers do not passively listen to the creator's storytelling, but actively participate in the storytelling. Therefore, the viewer also becomes a teller, who in this article is called a telling-participant. Second, in the storytelling of YouTube historical content, the perspectives tend to become plural as the creator and the telling participants interact with each other. Third, in the storytelling of YouTube historical content, intertextuality and presentism are frequently used to make the past be familiar to the present people. Fourth, in the storytelling process, ‘wrong’ year or name is criticized and corrected, but the creativity of storytelling form is allowed. In order for YouTube historical content to be beneficial for historical learning, it is important for teachers to conceptually understand the characteristics of YouTube historical content storytelling and to develop learning activities so that students can analyze storytelling and do storytelling in an informed way.
