성(性)가족의 제도화와 근친상간 금지의 성정치

국문 초록

식민지 조선이 근대적 면모를 갖추어가던 시기이기도 했던 1930년대 전후로 사회가 성애화되고 쾌락이 상품화되며 욕망이 젠더화되는 경향이 뚜렷해졌다. 이러한 변화는 근친상간 금지를 통한 섹슈얼리티의 가정화 경향을 이끌고 있었다. 본고에서는 푸코의 섹슈얼리티 논의를 빌려, ‘성적인 것’에 젠더적 성격이 부여되면서 섹슈얼리티의 구성이 개인의 정체성 형성과 가족을 중심으로 한 사회 재편에 커다란 영향을 드리우게 되는 과정을 추적하고, 이를 복합적 ‘권력 작용’의 결과로서 검토해보았다. 구체적으로는 성병 담론과 기생철폐론으로 가시화되었던 가정 안팎의 성의 규율화, 즉 섹슈얼리티에 질병의 성격을 부여하고 그럼으로써 의학적으로 규제하고 치료해야 하며 규율해야 할 것으로 인식하는 동시에 그로부터 보호될 수 있는 섹슈얼리티를 가정에 속한 것으로 배치하는 과정을 담론적 작동의 차원에서 검토하였으며, 이러한 담론이 일상적 인식으로 구체화되는 과정을 당대에 인기를 끌었던 대중적 서사물로 우회하면서 추적해보았다. 섹슈얼리티와 혼인관계의 입체교차로인 가족이 섹슈얼리티의 활력을 만들어내는 중심이 되면서 근친상간이 금기로서 작동하게 되는 메커니즘을 󰡔승방비곡󰡕을 포함한 서사물을 중심으로 검토하면서, 성병 공포와 근친상간 금지가 여성의 성적 욕망을 통제하고 내적으로 위계화하는 방식으로 성가족 제도를 구축하게 되는 성정치의 권력 작동을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

Around the 1930s, when colonial Joseon took on a modern aspect, the tendency toward sexualization of society, the commodification of pleasures, and the gendering of desires became clear. These changes were leading the tendency to domesticate sexuality through prohibition of incest. In this paper, borrowing Foucault’s discussion of sexuality, I trace the process in which ‘sexuality’ is given a gendered character and the composition of sexuality has a great influence on the formation of individual identity and the reorganization of society centered on the family, and it was examined as a result of sexuality politics. Specifically, the process of sexual regulation inside and outside the home, which had become visible due to the discourse on veneral diseases and the abolitionism of the prostitution system, were reviewed in terms of discourses operation. And the process of materializing these discourses into everyday awareness was traced while bypassing the narratives that were popular at the time. By examining the mechanism by which prohibition of incest as a taboo in a family, which is the crossroads of sexuality and marital relationship, becomes the center of creating the vitality of sexuality, focusing on the narratives including Seungbangbigok. As a result, it was possible to confirm the sexuality politics in which the fear of veneral diseases and the prohibition of incest control women s sexual desires and build a sexual family system in a way that internally hierarchizes them.
