영문 초록

Traditional table, like other items for living, has gradually evolved and changed with the start of humans’ settlement and for this reason, the history of table is some hard to understand in a simple way. In order to solve this problem and get better understanding of traditional table, the study is focused on the comparison of tables of Korea, China and Japan respectively. For this, in this study, designs of tables of the three nations and their definition are examined based on their materials, structural characteristics and forms, and the resulting investigation of their differences and similarity would help to define clearly Korea’s own design. As we have seen a growing modernization of Korean traditional furniture, it requires necessarily the trend the review of previous studies seeks and desirable alternatives that satisfy the necessity of Korean style design. This study will be helpful for other researchers to more understand the characteristics of design of each country and seek and further develop modernized design of Korean-type.
