국문 초록

이 연구는 한 초등학교 교사의 혁신학교 근무를 통한 발달 경험을 생애사 연구를 통해 분석하였다. 이 연구의 참여자는 16년의 교직 경력을 가진 교사로서 임용 후 첫 9년은 일반학교에서, 나머지 7년은 두 곳의 혁신학교에서 근무하였다. 연구 자료는 참여자와의 세 차례에 걸친 비구조적 심층 면담을 통해 수집되었으며, 분석결과 참여자는 혁신학교를 통해 동료교사와 협력하고 교육적 연대를 이루며 학교혁신의 주체가 되는 경험, 존중받아야 할 자율적 인격체로서의 아이들을 바라보는 경험, 동학년 교사와 교육과정을 재구성하고 운영하는 경험을 하였다. 그리고 이런 경험은 참여자의 교원으로서의 정체성과 교육, 아동, 동료, 교직 등에 대한 인식의 변화를 초래하고 있었다. 이 논문에서는 연구참여자가 경험한 이런 변화를 인간성 회복의 관점에서 논의하고, 교사발달에 영향을 주는 학교의 거시적 맥락에 대한 시사점을 학교문화, 교육본질에 대한 질문의 활성화, 협력적이고 집단적인 동료문화, 교육과정과 수업 역량의 강조, 교육과정과 수업 역량 함양을 위한 체계적인 연수와 지원 등으로 나누어 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The present study explored multifaceted dimensions of teacher professional development by analyzing one elementary school teacher’s experiences of teaching and working at Hyukshin schools. At the time of the study, the participating teacher, with 16 years of teaching experience, reported that she had spent her first 9 years in regular (non-Hyukshin) elementary schools and had been teaching in two Hyukshin schools for the remaining 7 years. Data was collected through three intensive narrative interviews. It was shown that her experiences of teaching and working in Hyukshin schools had provided significant momentum for her growth and further development, bringing quite a few nontrivial changes to her own perception and understanding of education and her identity as an elementary school teacher. Specifically, her 7-year experience in Hyukshin schools appeared to have influenced four essential aspects of her life as an elementary school teacher: her identity as an agent in an educational reform, reconceptualization of perspectives of students and teaching practices, what it means to be a teacher as a professional, and perceptions of peer teachers through experiences of cooperation. Her experiences and changes are discussed in terms of humanity. Further illustrated are from a macroscopic contextual perspective likely to be affecting teacher development, which include school cultures, the importance of activating channels of communication about the nature of education, a cooperative atmosphere among colleagues, emphasis on the curriculum and instructional competency, and systematic teacher training.
