대학의 성적증명서 개선을 위한 수요자 인식 조사

국문 초록

대학 성적증명서는 학생들의 최소 4년의 공식적인 교육성과 기록이자 채용과 진학에 활용되는 중요한 자료이다. 교과목명, 이수시간, 학점으로 요약된 현재 성적증명서는 오랜 기간 그 형식을 유지해왔다. 본 연구는 사회적 요구와 교육적 상황이 변화한 가운데, 성적증명서의 개선 필요성을 살펴보고 대표적인 수요자라 할 수 있는 기업 및 기관이 채용 상황에서 대학 성적증명서에 대한 만족도와 인식은 어떠한지 조사함으로써 개선 방향을 모색하고자 수행되었다. 16명의 기업 및 기관의 채용 경험이 있는 실무자가 연구에 참여하였으며, 채용시 대학의 성적증명서가 어떠한 비중으로 활용되는지 우선순위와 성적증명서에 대한 인식 및 문제점을 조사하였다. 연구결과, 채용시 지원자의 인성과 태도 등을 파악하고 싶으나 성적증명서로는 파악하기 어려우며 다른 증빙자료에 비해 활용 우선순위가 낮게 나타났다. 기존 성적증명서를 보완할 수 있는 확장된 성적증명서(extended transcript)로 역량기반성적표 사례를 제시하고, 확장된 성적증명서가 기존 성적증명서를 보완할 수 있는지에 대한 가능성에 대한 질문과 면담을 진행하였다. 연구 참여자들은 지원자의 구체적인 경험을 드러내고 수행과정에 대한 정보를 제공하는 측면에서 확장된 성적증명서의 잠재성을 논의하였다. 연구결과를 토대로 성적증명서 확장 방향을 제시하였고, 대학에서 성적증명서 개선을 실행하는데 필요한 전략을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

University transcripts are an official record of a student s four years of educational achievement and are an important resource for recruitment and entering graduate school. The current transcript, which summarizes the titles of the courses taken, the number of hours completed, and the grades, has maintained its form for a long time. This study was conducted to explore the direction of improvement of traditional transcripts by examining the limitations of transcripts according to changes in social demands and educational purposes. The primary user group for university transcripts are thepersonnelof companies and institutions, and their perceptions of university transcripts in recruitment processes were examined. In this study, 16 experts with experience in hiring at companies and institutions participated, and opinions on the priority of transcripts among documents used in the hiring process, perceptions of university transcripts, and the limitations of traditional transcripts were collected. As a result, although employers were interested in identifying the applicant s characters and attitude in the hiring process, the university transcripts did not provide relevant information on showing the applicant s character and attitude, so they showed a low preference towards it compared to other documents. Competency-based transcripts were presented as an example of extended transcripts, and surveys and interviews were conducted to collect and discuss opinions on the possibility of extended transcripts. Study participants discussed the potential of extended transcripts in terms of showing the experiences of applicants and providing rich information about their performance. Based on the findings, directions for developing the extended transcripts were discussed, and strategies of implementing the extended transcripts at universities were suggested.
