국문 초록

학생들이 경험하는 교육과정은 교사가 무의식적으로 형성한 실천 성향의 체계인 아비투스의 영향을 받는다. 이에 본 연구는 초등학교 교사들이 수학을 가르치는 과정에서 공통적으로 드러나는 아비투스를 확인하기 위해 교사들과 심층 면담을 진행하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫째, 교사들은 수학교과의 강한 계열성을 고려하며 문제 풀이와 연산영역을 중시하는 수업을 했다. 둘째, 수학적 개념을 잘 아는 것과 문제를 맞히는 것을 동일시하여 전통적 평가 방식을 선호하였으며 기성 문제를 기준으로 이보다 쉬운 수학 교과서의 문제들은 모두 다 풀게 했다. 셋째, 교사들은 문제 푸는 방법을 가르치는 데 집중한 뒤 채점-오답 설명-채점 하는 과정을 반복하였으며 이를 통과한 학생들에게는 한정된 자유시간이 부여되었다. 연구 결과 교사들의 아비투스 형성에 큰 영향을 끼친 장은 한국으로 아비투스는 교육과정 개혁의 효과 및 교사의 교육과정 자율성 확대를 통한 변화의 정도를 약화시킬 가능성을 내포했다. 따라서 교사들이 배웠던 방법대로 가르치지 않도록 하기 위한 정보 제공에 관심을 기울일 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Students’ experienced curriculum is influenced by the teacher’s habitus, the unconscious system of practical tendencies. As an object of sociological inquiry, coherent habitus is explored based on elementary school teachers experiences. In-depth interviews were conducted with 13 teachers to find the habitus which is revealed in teaching behaviors. The results are as follows. First, considering the strict sequence of math subjects, teachers equate learning arithmetic with learning mathematics and emphasize problem solving. Second, teachers equate understanding mathematical concepts with knowing the correct answers to problems and prefer checking the results of their studies in traditional evaluation methods. In the process, students were asked to solve all the questions within the math textbooks because their difficulty level is estimated relatively low. Third, teachers concentrate on teaching how to solve questions and repeat the process of scoring, explanation of wrong answers. Students who passed this process were given limited free time. This study supposes that teachers’ habitus is formed by the influence of South Korea, as a most influential field. Therefore, this study recommends paying more attention to teachers not to teach students the way they have been taught. Because this habitus may weaken the effectiveness of curriculum reform and discourage attempts to change schools by expanding teachers autonomy.
