국문 초록

무형자산에 대하여 많은 연구가 진행되고 있지만 단순한 측정요소를 열거하거나 실제로는 측정이 불가능한 정성적 요소를 제시하는 연구도 많다. 원가접근법, 시장접근법, 수익접근법의 연구방법 중, 시장접근법의 공정시가나 원가접근법의 대체원가가 무형자산이나 지적재산의 측정과 평가에도 적용가능한가? 공정시가는 완전경쟁시장이 형성되고 무형자산의 거래가 활발한 시장에서 적용가능하고 대체원가나 투하된 원가는 무형자산의 가치를 적절하게 반영하지 못하고 있다. 그러므로 우리는 수익접근법에 주목하게 되는 것이다. Gu and Lev(2001)의 무형자산 가치 평가모형은 수익접근법에 의한 경제적 생산함수를 이용한 것인데 측정이 용이하고 실무에 적용가능성이 높다. 본 연구는 이 모형을 소개하고 모형의 한계와 유용성을 평가한 것이다.

영문 초록

Managers and investors are obviouly most concerned with identifying and quantifying specific factors(investment) that create knowledge and growth. I reviewed GAAP and valuation principles ad methods for intangibles. There are three approaches: cost, income, and market. One of the income approaches, which are NPV of future income delivered by intangibles, is introduced in this paper. Baruch Lev and Feng have developed a new methodology for mesuring corporate knowledge earnings and knowledge capital, including new indicators for assessing investors valuation of companies. Their mothodology for measuring the value of intangible assets is based on the economic concept of production function, where the firm s economic performance is stipulated to be generated by the three major classes of inputs: physical, financial and knowledge assets. Thus: Economic Performance=Physical Assets+ Financial Assets+Intangible Assets Intangible(intellectual) capital is driven by diverse factors, some for which there are no standardized, public information available(e.g. customer satisfaction). Therefore Lev and Feng Gu limited the analysis in their research to those dirivers which are publicly available: R&D, advertising(brand support), captital expenditures, information systems, and technology acquisition.
