국문 초록

본고는 李鈺의 글에서 작가 자신이 패배당하는 결말을 보이는 「蜘蛛賦」와 「後蚤賦」를 분석하고 그 의미에 대해 살핀 것이다. 먼저는 두 작품의 창작 시기를 밝혀보았다. 「題絅錦小賦卷後」의 기록을 토대로 두 작품은 이옥이 문체반정으로 피해를 당하기 이전에 창작된 글로 보았다. 다음으로는 자기 패배의 글쓰기 양상에 대해 살펴보았다. 먼저는 두 작품에서 꾸짖음의 대상이 벌레라는 점에 주목하여 그 의미에 대해 살펴보았다. 이옥은 하찮은 벌레를 내세워 인간의 통념을 비판함으로써 가장 하찮은 微物도 깨우침의 대상이 될 수 있다는 생각을 보여주었다. 「蜘蛛賦」에선 각종 벌레를 우의적으로 표현해, 삶을 구속하는 현실의 법망들이 많으니, 욕심과 이익으로 함부로 뛰어들지 말고 잘못된 길로 빠지지 말아야 한다는 주제를 담은 것으로 보았다. 자기 패배의 결말이 갖는 의미를 두 층위에서 생각해 보았다. 자기 패배의 결말은 현실에 패배한 작가 의식을 드러냈다기보다는 작가적 진실을 더 중요하게 여기는 이옥의 세계관이 반영된 것이라 보았다. 또 하나는 독자를 효과적으로 설득시키기 위한 고도의 글쓰기 전략이라고 보았다. 李子의 패배는 이옥의 패배인 것 같지만 실은 그 시대 통념의 패배이다. 작가의 패배는 벌레가 인간과 동등한 지위에 서게 되는 것을 의미한다. 인간은 자신보다 더 높은 존재에 의해 낮아지는 것이 아니라 가장 하찮은 미물에게 훈계 받음으로써 벌레와 동등한 자리에 선다. 자기 부정을 감수하면서 이옥이 드러내고 싶었던 세계는 物我均視이자 복잡한 그물망으로 얽혀 있는 냉혹한 현실이었다. 이옥은 저항의 글쓰기를, 자기를 낮추면서 세계의 진실을 드러내는 방식으로 선택했다. 자신도 짐짓 비판의 대상이 되는 방식을 취해 관습적 생각을 비틀고 은근슬쩍 현실에 대한 풍자도 가미하였다. 자기부정을 통한 微物의 발견은 그의 글쓰기가 나아간 새로운 방향의 정점을 보여주는 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is to reveal the meaning of self-defeating finals in 「Ji-Ju-Bu」 and 「Hu-Jo-Bu」 of Rhee Ok. Firstly, it finds the writing period of these two works. They had been written before persecution of restoration policy on the basis of records of 「Je-Kyeong-Kum-So-Kwon-Hu」. Then it finds the writing aspect of self-defeating. First of all, in terms of that the object of rebuking is worms, it finds that meaning. Rhee Ok appealed that the humble things can be a good object of human recognition, criticizing human existing concepts. There is a subject in 「Ji-Ju-Bu」 that there are various laws to bind human life, so human carefully should not go astray, expressing many worms in an allegorical way. The meaning of self-defeating final is to be considered with two layers. This self-defeating final does not show the consciousness of the writer, but the writer’s truth, considered more serious by Rhee Ok as his main point of view. Another layer is the high strategics of his writing to attract and persuade readers. The defeat of Lee-Mister looks the defeat of Rhee Ok, in real it is the defeat of existing human concept of that time. The defeat of writer means that worms is equal to human position. Human does not become lower existence by higher level of existence, but stands in the same position as the worms, recognizing his own defaults thanks to the lesson of humble things. The world that Rhee Ok intended to reveal, even with self-denial, is a ‘Mul-A-Kyun-Si’(which means equal viewing self as the things) and the true severe reality bounded with complicated nets. Rhee Ok tried the resistant writing, choosing the way of pulling himself down, of revealing the truth of the world. He chose the way of criticizing himself, twisted common thinking, put the allegorism of criticizing the reality in a secret way. The revelation of humble things by self-denial shows the new direction of his writing
