호량지변에서 읽어낸 장자의 인지방식

국문 초록

『장자』「추수」편의 호량지변은 앎의 방식에 관한 흥미로운 쟁점을 담고 있다. 장자가 물고기가 즐겁다고 말하자, 혜시는 다른 존재의 심리상태를 알 수 없다는 점에 근거해서 장자를 비판한다. 에임스 등의 선행연구자들은 장자의 앎을 현대 인지과학의 체화된 인지유형으로 해석한다. 그러나 이런 해석은 장자적 인지방식의 고유성을 밝히지 못한 채, 장자의 인지를 체화된 인지의 예로 소비할 뿐이라는 비판에서 자유롭지 못하다. 본고에서는 장자의 개념과 이론에 즉해서 장자의 인지방식을 논구했다. 구체적으로 氣가 전의식적 기초정서를 이루는 심리생리적 생명 에너지임을 논구했고, 기를 통한 인지의 기제가 음악적 앎과 같이 공명현상에 의거하는 것이라는 해석을 제안했다.

영문 초록

The joy of fish story in Zhuangzi contains an interesting issue about the way of knowing. When Zhuangzi says fish is fun, Hui Shi criticizes Zhuangzi on the basis that he cannot know the psychological state of other beings. Prior researchers such as Ames seem to have recognized Zhuangzi s knowledge as an embodied cognitive type of modern cognitive science. However, this interpretation is not free from criticism that it only consumes Zhuangzi s cognition as an example of embodied cognition without revealing the uniqueness of Zhuangzi s cognition method. In this paper, Zhuangzi s cognition method has been discussed in line with Zhuangzi s concept and theory. Specifically, it was discussed that qi is the psychophysiological life energy that constitutes the basic preconscious emotions, and it was revealed that the mechanism of cognition through qi is based on resonance like musical knowledge.
