한국어 평서문과 의문문의 음성적 차이에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본고는 한국어 문장 유형 중 평서문과 의문문을 바탕으로 이들 유형에 드러나는 음성적 특징이 무엇인지를 확인하고 비교하는 것에 목적이 있다. 동일한 형태를 가지는 문장이 평서문과 의문문으로 발화될 때 이들 사이에서 나타나는 음성적 차이점이 무엇인지를 살펴보고 통계 검증을 통해 이들이 유의미한 차이를 보이는지를 제시하였다. 발화된 문장의 음성적 특징으로 분석한 요소는 문장의 음높이, 지속 시간, 강도이다. 평서문과 의문문의 음높이를 분석한 결과, 마지막 음절과 끝에서 두 번째 음절에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났는데, 마지막 음절에서는 평서문보다 의문문의 음높이가 높게 나타났으며, 끝에서 두 번째 음절은 반대로 평서문이 의문문보다 높은 음높이로 실현되었다. 문장 전체의 음높이 범위에서는 의문문이 평서문보다 넓은 범위를 보여주었다. 지속 시간의 측면에서 평서문과 의문문을 비교한 결과 전체 문장의 지속 시간은 평서문이 의문문보다 길게 발화되었으며, 음절별 지속 시간을 함께 분석하였을 때 그 차이점이 주격조사가 위치하는 음절과 마지막 음절에서 드러난다는 것을 밝혔다. 평서문과 의문문의 강도를 비교한 결과, 마지막 음절의 평균 강도에서 의문문이 평서문보다 높은 수치를 보였으며, 전체 문장의 강도 범위에서는 평서문이 의문문보다 넓은 강도 범위를 보였다. 본 연구는 기존의 억양 중심으로 기술되어 왔던 한국어 평서문과 의문문을 다양한 음성적 특징을 분석하여 새로운 관점에서 바라보고 그 차이를 규명했다는 점에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify and compare the phonetic characteristics of Korean sentence types based on declarative and interrogative sentences. When sentences having the same form are uttered as declarative sentences and interrogative sentences, this paper examined the different phonetic characteristics between them and presented whether they show a significant difference through statistical verification. The factors analyzed as phonetic characteristics are the pitch, duration, and intensity of the sentence. As a result of analyzing the pitch of the declarative sentence and the interrogative sentence, significant differences were found between the last syllable and the penultimate syllable. In the last syllable, the pitch of the interrogative sentence was higher than that of the declarative sentence, and in the penultimate syllable, the declarative sentence was realized with a higher pitch than the interrogative sentence. In the pitch range of the entire sentence, the interrogative sentence showed a wider range than the declarative sentence. As a result of comparing the declarative sentence and the interrogative sentence in terms of duration, the duration of the whole sentence was longer than the interrogative sentence, and when the duration of each syllable was analyzed together, the difference was revealed in the syllable where the subject case marker is located and the last syllable. As a result of comparing declarative sentences and interrogative sentences in terms of intensity, the interrogative sentence showed a higher value than the declarative sentence in the average intensity of the last syllable, and the declarative sentence showed a wider range of intensity than the interrogative sentence in the sentence intensity range. This study is meaningful in that it looked at the phonetic differences between declarative sentences and interrogative sentences, which have been described based on the intonation, from various view points and identified the differences.
