국문 초록

본고는 『개화기 가사자료집』에서 여성 교육을 소재로 한 개화기 가사작품을 선별하여 전통적인 봉건 담론의 지속과 균열이라는 관점에서 논의를 전개하고자 한다. 개화기는 조선의 봉건 사회에 대한 의식의 변화가 드러난 시기로, 근대 사회로의 이행 과정을 말한다. 그래서 더 많은 연구가 이루어진 시기이기도 하다. 개화기는 여성에게 자신의 권리를 찾을 수 있는 기회였던 시기다. 첫 번째는 전통적 봉건 담론을 지속시킨 논의이다. 이는 유교적 가부장제의 면모를 제시한 것으로, 남녀의 역할이 다름을 강조하였다. 이는 또 다시 두 부분으로 나누면 하나는 시집살이에 대한 규범과 행실로, 가부장제 사회에 나타난 결혼 문화를 대변한 것으로 조선시대 결혼생활에서 지켜야 할 부녀자들의 행실을 가르치는 작품임을 알 수 있다. 그런 반면, 가부장제 여성으로서의 행실과 도리로는 어렸을 때부터 지켜야 하는 여성으로서의 도리와 예의범절에 대해 논하였고, 이는 성인이 되기 위한 밑거름 역할을 한 작품임을 드러낸 것이다. 두 번째는 전통적 봉건 담론을 균열시킨 논의이다. 이 역시 두 부분으로 나누면 하나는 여성의 지위 향상에 따른 새로운 교육 문화를 논한 것이다. 여성에게 전통 봉건 사회에서는 찾아볼 수 없는 교육을 접하게 하여 여성 교육을 통해 바뀌는 새로움을 제시하고자 하는 작품들이었다. 다른 하나는 개화 사상으로 변화된 사회에 대해 풍속에 급변하는 세태를 비판하여 전통 봉건 사회의 잘못된 점을 지적하여 이를 바르게 바꾸고자 하였다. 남녀의 지위가 달라졌음을 언급하며 여성 교육의 중요성과 필요성을 적극적으로 드러냈다고 볼 수 있다. 개화기 가사의 여성 교육을 소재로 한 작품들은 전통적 봉건 담론의 지속과 균열을 언급함으로 여성도 교육의 중요한 주체였음을 드러냈다. 그렇지만, 무엇보다도 여성들이 교육을 통해 이루어낼 수 있었던 것은 그리 많지 않았다. 여성들은 꿈꿀 수 있었지만 꿈꾸지 못했으며, 그녀들에게 교육은 꿈을 이루기 위한 하나의 수단에 불과하였을 뿐이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the discourses on women s education at the time, based on works on women s education in the early modern gasa(歌辭). I analyzed the gasa of the early modern period using women s education as the subject, and through this, I would like to divide the discussion into two aspects: the continuation and rift of traditional feudal discourse. Therefore, I would like to divide the discussion into two aspects: the continuation of the traditional feudal discourse and the rift. The early modern period refers to the period when Joseon s consciousness about the feudal society was revealed and it was a period of transition to a modern society. Therefore, the early modern period is a very interesting period, but also a period in which many studies have been conducted by many researchers. First, I have explained the argument that persisted in the traditional feudal discourse. This presented the aspect of the Confucian patriarchy, and above all emphasized the difference in the roles of men and women. In addition, it was possible to examine the behavior of women who represented the marriage culture that appeared in the patriarchal society. This soon showed no difference from the ideology of the previous feudal society. In other words, as the values ​​of filial piety and gender separation were important, it was intended to emphasize the role of women in the feudal society of the Joseon Dynasty as an education for married couples. Second, I explained the argument that cracked the traditional feudal discourse. This revealed a critique of the rapidly changing public opinion on the society changed by the ideology of enlightenment. It also suggested the importance of education, noting that the status of men and women has changed. This means that an education system for women has arisen, and it can be seen that the necessity has been actively expressed. I saw that the works that dealt with women s education in the gasa of the enlightenment period revealed that women were also important subjects of education because they refer to the continuation and rift of traditional feudal discourse. However, there was not much that women were able to achieve through education above all during the period of enlightenment. Women could dream for themselves, but they could not. For them, education was only a means to achieve their dreams.
