기녀 수작시조의 표현 특성과 그 의미

국문 초록

기녀 수작시조에는 상대 남성과의 결연(結緣)을 위한 과감한 언어 표현 양상이 다양하게 드러난다. 본고에서는 이러한 점에 주목하여 기녀 수작시조에 나타난 표현 특성과 그 의미를 살펴보고자 하였다. 기녀 수작시조는 한우의 시조 1수, 진옥 1수, 금춘 2수, 다복 1수로 총 5수가 존재하지만, ‘주고받음’을 통해 내용 맥락이 완성되는 수작시조의 기능적 특성상 상대 남성인 임제, 정철, 박계숙, 김수장의 작품까지 포함하여 그 특성을 파악할 필요가 있다. 임제와 한우의 수작시조의 경우, 기녀의 이름을 활용하여 적극적으로 상대방과의 결연 의사를 타진하는 것을 통해 작품에 나타난 문학적 재치와 적극성을 확인해볼 수 있었다. 정철과 진옥의 수작시조의 경우, 이름을 활용한 노골적인 성애(性愛) 표현을 통해 작품에 나타난 과감하고 주도적인 모습을 확인해볼 수 있었다. 방직기의 신분이었던 기녀 금춘과 박계숙의 수작시조에서는 무반에 대한 희롱을 통해 관계의 분위기를 적극적으로 주도해나갔던 기녀 시조의 면모를 확인해볼 수 있었다. 다복과 김수장의 시조는 다소 예외적이다. 한우나 진옥, 금춘의 작품과는 달리 다복의 시조에서는 적극적이거나 과감한 성애 표현 등이 잘 드러나지 않는다. 이는 다복이 해당 시조를 창작할 당시 수작을 반드시 의도한 것은 아니었기 때문으로 보인다. 원망의 정서를 통해 그리움을 드러낸 다복의 시조에 김수장이 이후 화답시조를 지음으로써 결과적으로 수작시조로서의 기능을 획득하게 된 예외적 상황에 따라 다른 수작시조과는 그 표현 특성에 차이를 보이게 된 것이다. 기녀 수작시조의 경우 애정의 정서를 기반으로 한다는 점에서는 다른 기녀 시조와 유사하다고 볼 수 있지만 과감하고 노골적인 애욕(愛慾)의 표출이라는 점에서는 분명한 차이를 보였다. 이는 결연이나 동침 성사라는 수작시조의 목적에서 기인한 것으로 앞서 다루었던 표현 특성 역시 이러한 목적을 성사시키기 위한 것으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

In the Ginyeo (aka, giesaeng, entertaining lady) Sujak-sijo (sijo with a purpose to attract men), there is a trend of bold linguistic expressions for the close ties with the male partner in diverse ways. Under this article, such a point was carefully considered to take a look at the characteristics of expression and Its Implication for the Ginyeo Sujak-sijo. For the Ginyeo Sujak-sijo, there is a total of 5 sijos, including 1 sijo of Han Woo, 1 sijo of Jin Wook, 2 sijos of Geum Choon and 1 sijo of Da Bok, but through ‘give and take’, the works would be completed with the context of contents in its functional feature, there is a need to find out the characteristics with the work products of male partners, namely, Im Je, Jeong Cheol, Park Gye-sook and Kim Soo-jang. For the works of Im Je and Han Woo, the name of the Ginyeo was facilitated to actively knock on the intends of the counterpart for a romantic relationship in a way of confirming the wit and positive nature in literature as shown on the Sujak-sijo. For the works of Jeong Chel and Jin Wook, the erotic features of their Sujak-sijo could be learned through the explicit sexual expression by utilizing the name. In the Sujak-sijos of Ginyeo Geum Choon and Park Gye-sook who had the status of Bangjikgi, it disclosed the aspect of actively initiating the mood of relationship through the jeering against military nobility. For the case of the Ginyeo Sujak-sijo, in the aspect that it is based on the sentiment of affection, it could be seen as similar to other Ginyeo sijos, but in the aspect of expressing bold and explicit sexual desire, there is a clear difference. This is attributable to the fact that it is caused by the purpose of Sujak-sijo as the goal to have a relationship or sleeping together that the expression features as shown earlier was considered to accomplish such purpose as well.
