중년기 여성의 박사과정 학습체험 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 중년기 여성의 박사과정 학습체험의 의미를 탐구하고 기술하고자 하는 목적을 갖는다. 연구를 위해 박사과정 중에 있는 40세 이상 65세 이하 연구참여자 9명을 선정하여, 학습체험 현상 그대로를 드러내고자 현상학적 연구방법으로 수행하였다. 또한, 인생주기 발달단계에 따라 학습체험에 의미가 어떠한지를 탐구하고자 Levinson(2012)의 인생주기 이론을 적용하여 중년의 전환기(40∼45세), 50대 전환기(50∼55세), 성인후기 전환기(60∼65세)로 구분하여 탐구하였다. 연구결과 중심의미로부터 18개의 드러난 주제와 4개의 본질적 주제‘자신의 가치 신장을 위한 과감한 도전’, ‘성장을 향한 갈등과 극복의 여정’, ‘학습의 내재적 가치를 깨달아가는 존재’, ‘학문적 성장을 통한 자신의 존재가치 확인과 확장의 꿈’을 도출하였다. 결론적으로 중년기 여성의 박사과정 학습체험의 궁극적인 의미는 ‘학문적 성장을 통해 자신의 존재가치를 확인하고 학문적 나눔을 통해 이를 확장해 나감’의 과정이었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 논의와 연구의 의의를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore and describe the meaning of lived learning experiences of middle-aged women in doctoral programs. For this study, nine research participants between the ages of 40 and 65 who are in the doctoral program were selected. This study was conducted as a phenomenological research method to reveal the phenomenon of learning experience. I attempted to examine whether there were certain differences in their learning experiences by the life cycle even within middle age, dividing the middle age into the stage of the mid-life transition (40∼45 years old), the stage of the age 50s transition (50∼55 years old), and the stage of the late adult transition (60∼65 years old). By applying the van Manen s hermeneutic phenomenological analysis method, 18 themes and 4 essential themes from the collected data. In conclusion, the ultimate meaning of lived learning experiences of middle-aged women in doctoral programs was the process of verifying their own value of existence for themselves through academic growth and expanding it through academic sharing. Based on the research results, the significance of discussion and research was suggested.
