과학사적 관점으로 분석한 물체의 운동에 대한 중학생들의 개념 연구

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 과학사적 관점으로 물체의 운동에 대한 중학생들의 개념을 분석하였다. 분석의 도구로써 과학사를 기초로 물체의 운동에 대한 설문 문항을 개발하였다. 연구 대상은 중학교 2학년 120명이었다. 분석 결과 다양한 물체의 운동 상황에서 학생들의 힘과 관성에 대한 개념의 응답 비율이 차이를 보였다. 연직 상방 운동과 원운동에서는 현 교육과정에서 가르치는 뉴턴 관점으로 응답한 학생이 약 60%였으나, 자유 낙하, 포물선 운동에 대해서는 약 30~40% 정도가 현 교육과정에서 제시하는 뉴턴 관점으로 이해하고 있었으며, 특히 등속 직선 운동에서는 단지 16%만이 뉴턴의 관점이었다. 이러한 낮은 응답 비율로부터 중학생들이 관성 개념을 어려워 한다는 사실을 알 수 있다. 따라서 중학생들에게 자신의 사고 단계에 맞는 적절한 과학사적 교수 자료를 제공함으로써 효과적으로 과학적 개념을 학습시킬 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

In this study, we had analyzed the middle school students conceptions by science historic viewpoints of object motions. As a tool for analysis, we had developed a few questions about the motion of an object based on the history of science. The subject of this study were 120 students of 8th grade. The results showed that the ratio of students conceptions related to force and inertia conceptions differed in various motions. About 60% of the students answered with Newton s viewpoint in the situation of vertical motion and circular motion. About 30~40% of the students had Newton s viewpoint in free fall motion and projectile motion. In particular, only 16% students had Newton s viewpoint in uniform velocity motion. From such low ratio of scientific answers it could be inferred that middle school students are difficult to understand inertia conception. Therefore, it is required to teach middle school students the scientific conceptions effectively by providing teaching and learning materials suitable for middle school students thinking stage.
