청소년 통일교육의 새로운 모형

국문 초록

본 논문은 사례연구를 통해 청소년 통일교육의 새로운 모형을 찾기 위한 것이다. 그것을 위해 우선은 교육과정의 변화에 따른 통일교육과정의 변천사를 살펴보았다. 미군정기 이후 제4차 교육과정까지는 반공교육, 제5차 교육과정에서는 통일안보교육 중심, 그리고 1992년 제6차 교육과정 이후 지금까지는 ‘통일교육’이 시행되고 있다. 그동안에는 학교나 통일 또는 북한관련 사회단체를 중심으로 행해져왔던 통일교육이 지금은 교회 안에서도 중요한 주제로 다루어지고 있으며, 앞으로의 통일을 준비하고, 첫 통일세대로서 살아가게 될 청소년세대를 위한 통일교육의 필요성과 중요성에 대해서는 누구나 다 공감하는 바이다. 하지만, 실제적인 통일교육의 현실은 우리의 기대수준에 미치지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 문제의식을 갖고 청소년 통일교육의 새로운 패러다임으로 ‘고난함께’의 ‘평화캠프’ 사례를 살펴보았다. ‘평화·인권·통일’을 주제로 일 년에 두 번씩 개최되는 ‘평화캠프’에서는 ‘평화콘서트, 통일세미나, 평화기행, 청소년인권·평화영화제’ 등 과 같은 통일과 관련된 이야기를 다루고 있으며, 북한의 실상에 대한 교육을 통해 청소년들이 자연스럽게 민족공동체의식을 함양하도록 하고 있다. 평화캠프는 또한 평화교육과 민주시민교육을 지향하며, 이것을 통해 통일교육의 다원화를 이루어내고 있다. 이러한 분석의 결과로서 통일교육의 관점에서 드러난 4가지 교수학적인 방법을 지적할 수 있다 : 1) 체험을 통한 학습, 2) 주기집중교육, 3) MAI(Movie Assisted Instruction)를 이용한 학습, 4) 놀이를 통한 학습. ‘고난함께’의 평화캠프는 청소년을 대상으로 한 통일교육의 모범적인 사례로서, 기독청소년뿐만이 아니라, 현재 한국 교회의 통일교육에 무관심한 성인들을 위해서도 훌륭한 본이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to search for a new model of juveniles unification education through a case study. In order to achieve this purpose, first, this study examines a historical development of the unification education based on the curriculum changes. From the U.S. Military Government to the 4th Curriculum it focused on anticommunist education, while the 5th Curriculum emphasized on the national security. Since 1992, ‘unification education’ is being implemented in the 6th Curriculum. In many cases, a unification education has been organized by the schools or NGOs related to the issues on unification or North-Korea. But recently it became the important issues in the Church. Even though many people agree on the necessity and importance of unification education for youths who may become a first generation after reunification, its practical reality falls short of our expectation. With this critical mind, I analyzed the characters of the “Go-nan-ham-gge(Sharing Pain)” of “Peace Camp” as a new paradigm of unification education for juveniles. At ‘Peace Camp’ with the themes of peace, human rights and unification that takes place twice a year the program deals with the issues related to the unification such as a Peace Concert, seminars on unification, Peace Field-trip and Juveniles Rights-Peace Film Festival, etc. Education on the situation in North-Korea at the Peace Camp the juveniles naturally develop the spirit of an ethnic community Also the Camp aims to promote a peace and democratic civil education. Through this, the program achieves the diversity in unification education. As results of analysis there are four points on the instructional methods in the perspective of reunification education as follows: 1) Learning through experience, 2) concentrated periodic learning, 3) learning with MAI(Movie Assisted Instruction), 4) learning through play. The “Peace Camp” as a model of unification education for the youth could be also a good example for not only the Christian youth but also the adults who are not interested in unification education of Korea Church.
