국문 초록

이 논문은 먼저 기독교의 종교성에 대하여 올포트(Allport)의 종교성 개념을 살펴보고자 한다. 종교성과 상관관계가 있는 변인들을 경험적이고 실험적인 문헌연구를 통해 종교가 인간 삶에 대한 영향을 끼치는지를 살펴보았다. 이 연구는 기독교가 믿고 있는 구원에 대한 내세적 영생뿐만 아니라 현세의 삶에도 개인의 정신적 건강, 타인과의 관계, 세상에 대한 대처 등 긍정적 영향을 끼친다는 것을 제시하여 불신자들을 기독교적 삶으로 인도하고, 신자들에게 긍정적 영향을 끼치는 종교성의 향상을 돕는 데 유익할 것으로 기대한다. 연구 결과들은 종교성에 구분이 있음과 종교성 중에도 내재적 종교성이 성숙한 종교성으로 인간 삶에 긍정적인 영향을 끼침을 여러 변인들과의 상관관계를 통하여 보여주었다. 따라서 내재적 종교성, 즉 성숙한 종교성을 위해 신앙교육을 하는 기독교교육자들에게 신앙의 성숙도에 대한 진단이 필요함을 제시하였다. 그러나 이 연구는 신앙의 성숙도를 측정하기 위한 성서적 기준, 구체적 측정도구나 이론 등을 제시하는 데 까지 연구를 발전시키지 못하였다. 후속 연구에서 이러한 신앙성숙의 진단을 위한 여러 방법이 제시되고 각 단계에 맞는 구체적 프로그램이 연구되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

There have been arguments about positive and negative influences of religion among many scholars. Therefore, this study is to prove positive influence of religion by investigating variables correlated with religiosity. It explains Allport’s religiosity；intrinsic and extrinsic religiosity. It also investigates many variables correlated with religiosity by comparing with maturity and health concept of growth psychology. Allport suggested that religiosity is two­dimensional：intrinsic and extrinsic. The extrinsically motivated person uses his or her religion as means to other ends, such as personal security and social gain. However, the intrinsically motivated person lives his religion with self­serving motivation for being involved in religion and has a genuine faith which represents the central value or commitment in one’s life. Therefore, intrinsic religiosity is mature religious concept. The result of this study was that there were correlations with intrinsic religiosity and various variables which are similar to maturity and health concepts of growth psychology. There were also correlations with extrinsic religiosity and various variables which are contrary to maturity concepts. The result means that religion, especially intrinsic religiosity positively influences on human lives. This also means that religion may lead people mature and healthy life in many human life areas. Because only intrinsic religiosity positively influences on human lives, the necessity of measuring the level of religious maturity was suggested to educate and nurture people. However, this study did not suggest concrete methods to measure the level of religious maturity. Therefore, the following studies about various methods and concrete programs which are suitable to each religious level will be needed.
