국문 초록

본고는 영랑 자료들을 통해 여러 명의 영랑이 실재하며, ‘영랑’이란 명칭을 약칭과 별칭으로 구분해야 함을 밝힌 글이다. 영랑 자료는 크게 금석문, 열전류(문헌설화), 구전설화로 나눌 수 있다. 이들 자료와 기존의 연구는 多數 영랑의 존재를 보여준다. 준영랑, (별전)영랑, (청학)영랑이 서로 다른 별개의 인물이고, 전설상의 인물로서의 면모를 보였다면, 반면 역사상의 인물로 금석문의 (戌年)永郞과 『삼국사기』의 大永郞 등을 들 수 있다. 약칭은 원명을 한 글자로 줄여 부른 이름을 말한다. 약칭으로서 영랑은 ‘俊永’처럼 끝 자나 ‘永宗’처럼 앞 자에서 따온 것이다. ‘□永郞’이란 사례 외에 ‘永□郞’라고 한 것도 보이므로 이 두 가지 용례를 모두 고려해야 한다. 따라서 약칭을 끝 자만을 줄인 것으로 이해한 기존의 견해에서 벗어나 다양한 방식으로 영랑을 추적할 수 있을 것이다. 별칭은 위인, 영웅 등의 이름을 빌려 어떤 상징성을 드러내고자 할 때 불렸던 이름을 말한다. 신라의 위인이나 화랑, 또는 중국 위인의 이름을 도용했을 수 있다. 또 별칭으로서 ‘鸞郞’이 있고, 述郞의 述이 ‘수리’라는 뜻으로 山岳을 상징하는 별칭으로 보고, ‘永’의 상징성을 추론해 보았다. 『康熙字典』, 『說文解字』, 『方言』 등 자전에는 ‘永’字의 풀이로서 길다[長], 깊다[深], 멀다[遠] 등을 들었고, 이들은 모두 ‘물[水]’과 연관됨을 알 수 있다. 또 ‘永’을 破字하면, ‘二水’가 되고, 永同郡과 永州의 지명 유래에서 ‘永’字의 상징성으로 ‘물[水]’을 지적할 수 있다. 述郞의 述이 산악을 상징한다면, 永郞의 永은 江河를 상징한다. 이를 통해 신라4선 중 술랑과 영랑이 안상과 남랑보다 더 회자한 이유를 어느 정도 설명할 수 있을 것이다. 변함없이 낮은 데로 임하는 물의 속성을 담아 늘 자신을 낮추고, 생명의 근원인 어머니와 같은 여성성을 가졌던 화랑을 ‘永郞’이라고 불렸던 것이 아닐까 추론해 보았다. 또 별칭으로서의 영랑은 (戌年)영랑을 비정해 보았다. (戌年)영랑의 成業은 『주역』에 잘 설명되어 있고, 물의 속성은 ‘七善’으로 표현한 『도덕경』에 잘 드러나고 있다. (戌年)영랑과 이들 경전의 연관성을 보면, 왜 영랑이 화랑과 신선의 이미지를 갖게 되었는지 그 배경을 조금은 이해할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the related data of Yeongrang and reveals that several Yeongrang are real, and thus it is stated that the name Yeongrang should be classified into abbreviation and nickname. The three types of related data and the researcher s views on Yeongrang are that Jun yeongrang, (Byeoljeon)Yeongrang, (Cheonghak) Yeongrang are different characters and have a aspect of being a legendary figure, while the characters in history include the (Sulneon) Yeongrang[(戌年)永郞] and Daeyeongrang(大永郞). The abbreviation is the hypothesis that call in one letter by reducing the name. As an abbreviation, Youngrang mentioned that it can be derived as the back letter of Junyoung(俊永) or the front letter of Yeongjong(永宗) in abbreviation. In addition to the case of ‘□yeongrang’, it is also known as ‘yeong□rang’, so we should look at these two examples. The nickname is sometimes called when you want to reveal some symbolism by borrowing the name of a great man or hero. It may have stolen the name of the g reat man and hwarang o f Silla or the Chinese great man. Next, the symbolism of the letter was extracted from the meaning of Yeong(永) . 『KangHee Dictionary(康熙字典)』, 『Seolmunhaeja(說文解字)』, 『Bangun(方言)』 etc., refer to the meaning of the word Young , which is long[長], deep[深], and far[遠]. They are all related to water[水] . Also, if we divide the word Yeong , we will become two water(二水) and want to hold water[水] as the symbolism of the word ‘yeong’. The ‘Yeong’ character contains meanings related to water. Therefore, it is thought that the name of Yeongrang is a person who always lowers himself like the property of water flowing to a low place and has femininity like mother. Yeongrang as an alias can be called (Sulneon)Yeongrang. The meaning of completion work that (Sulneon)Yeongrang said is well revealed in 『Juyeok(周易)』. And the property of water can be found in 『Dodukkeong(道德經)』 expressed in seven goodness(七善).‘ The connection between (Sulneon)Yeongrang and these scriptures can be explained as the background of Yeongrang s image of hwarang(花郞) and hermit(神仙).
