국문 초록

본고는 1938년, 총동원 체제기를 배경으로 하는 <경성학교: 사라진 소녀들>을 퀴어호러로 독해하는 것을 목표로 한다. 금기의 위반과 경계의 이탈은 오래간 공포영화의 특징 중 하나로 언급되었다. 본고는 먼저 일제강점기 여학생들에게 부과되었던 규율과 이에 대한 위반과 이탈, 퀴어적 실천과 저항 가능성을 살펴보며, 이에 기반해 <경성학교: 사라진 소녀들> 속 주란과 연덕의 퀴어한 관계에 주목한다. 주란과 연덕의 관계는 주란의 관점에서 볼 때 소녀의 섹슈얼리티 각성과 맞닿아있으며, 이는 공포영화에서 재현되어 온 여성 괴물의 탄생으로 이어진다. 곧 주란의 신체를 매개로 퀴어함과 괴물성은 함께 증식한다. 더불어 주목할 것은 주란의 신체가 괴물과 같은 힘을 가지는 것이 인체 개조를 위한 일본 제국의 계획된 실험에 기반했으나 이를 초과한 결과라는 것이다. 인간의한계를 넘나들며 제국의 실험을 무화(無化)하는 주란을 보며 물어야 할 것은 그를 둘러싸고 있는 금기와 경계의 정체이며, 동시에 주란이 제거되는 결말이 이전의 질서를 복원하는지 혹은 다른 미래를 상상하게 하는지에 대한 것이다. 이에 답하기 위해 이 글에서는 <경성학교: 사라진 소녀들>의 결말을 검토하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper reads as a queer horror and aims to examine a possibility the film shows. A violation of taboo and a breakaway from limitation are the signature of a horror genre. Based on these features, I will examine a violation of the rules on girls and a queer practice in the Japanese colonial era. With this examination, I will overlap these historical realities with the scenes of the film, especially focusing on queer relationship between Joo􋹲 ran and Yeon􋹲duk. As their relationship awaken a sexuality of girl, which is connected a monstrous figure in horror genre, the queerness of Joo􋹲ran represents a monstrous feminine. Therefore, a queerness and a monstrosity is increasing through the body of Joo􋹲ran. Also I focus on the fact that the monstrous body of Joo􋹲ran is the result of the human experiment designed by Japanese imperialism, but it exceed the plan. As a monstrosity grows, Joo􋹲ran is out of the matrix of intelligibility and becomes abject. Therefore, I will try to answer the question that which norms are revealed by Joo􋹲ran’s monstrosity and whether the ending reconstruct of the previous rules or make us imagine the alternative possibility of future.
