현대시에 등장하는 동물 표상과 인간의 관계

국문 초록

이 연구는 강성은의 시집 『Lo-fi』에서 소재로 활용되는 동물을 중심으로 동물 표상이 실존적 인간을 어떤 특징으로 형상화하는지 살펴보는 데 의의가 있다. 본고에서 강성은의 대산문학 수상시집 『Lo-fi』에 주목하는 이유는 『Lo-fi』의 전체 47편 중 30여 편의 시에서 상상 속에 저장해둔 동물 표상을 통해 인간의 실존을 환상성으로 표출하고 있기 때문이다. 현대시에서 ‘동물의 인간화’와 ‘인간의 동물화’는 동일한 뿌리의 이미지에서 출발한다. 이처럼 『Lo-fi』에서 인간 존재의 상징으로 표출되는 동물 표상은 인간의 동물화와 동물의 인간화가 일치한다는 아감벤의 주장에 가닿는다. 『Lo-fi』에 등장하는 동물 표상은 인간과 동등한 관계로 공존하는 불가분의 관계를 맺고 있다. 강성은은 탈중심적 사고로 동물에게 상징적 자격을 부여한다. 『Lo-fi』에서 드러나는 환상성은 동물 표상의 상징적 인간화에서 표출된다. 강성은은 완전한 소멸인 동시에 새로운 생명을 예고하는 죽음과 삶을 동물 표상에 중첩된 이미지로 재해석해낸다. 이를 통해 『Lo-fi』에서는 동물 표상과 동일시된 인간 실존의 환상성을 통해 화자의 내면 심리와 부조리한 사회 현상을 형상화한다는 것을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study is meaningful in that it examines the characteristics of animal representations, which are used as materials in Kang Sung-eun s poem 『Lo-fi』, which shapes existential humans. The reason why I pay attention to Kang Sung-eun s 『Lo-fi』, a collection of Daesan literary awards, is that he expresses human existence as fantasy through animal representation stored in imagination in 30 poems out of 47 poems of 『Lo-fi』. In modern poetry, ‘humanization of animals’ and ‘animalization of humans’ start from the same root image. In this way, the animal representation expressed as a symbol of human existence in 『Lo-fi』 is in line with Agamben s claim that human animalization and humanization of animals coincide. Animal representations in 『Lo-fi』 have inseparable relationships that coexist with human beings in equal relationships. Kang Seong-eun assigns symbolic qualifications to animals by decentralized thinking. The fantasy revealed in 『Lo-fi』 is expressed in the symbolic humanization of animal representation. Kang Seong-eun is a complete extinction and reinterprets death and life that presaged a new life as images superimposed on animal representation. Through this, it can be seen that 『Lo-fi』 embodies the inner psychology of the speaker and the absurd social phenomenon through the fantasy of human existence identified with animal representation.
