노작교육의 실천을 통하여 조명한 교양교육으로서의 가치

국문 초록

이 연구는 대학교육의 의미, 특별히 대학교육의 기본을 이루고 있는 교양교육의 정체성이 재조명되어야 할 필요성이 그 어느 때보다 절실해지고 있는 시점에, 교양필수 과목으로 운영되고 있는 노작교육의 교양교육으로서의 가치를 탐구하기 위한 목적으로 진행되었다. 노작교육의 효과검증을 위하여 교수 36명과 1학년 학생 333명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 노작교육의 적당한 영역에 대하여 교수의 79%, 학생의 77%가 원예나 농업이라고 응답하였다. 노작교육의 필수, 선택에 대하여는 34%의 교수들이 교양필수로의 편성을, 26%의 교수들이 교양선택으로의 편성을 바라고 있다. 대부분의 학생들(42%)이 교양필수가 아닌 교양선택이나 패스학점으로 운영되기를 바라고 있다. 노작교육에 대한 만족도에 대하여 29%의 교수들이 만족하고 있으며 학생들은 59%가 만족하고 있으며, 인성교육의 측면에서 노작교육의 존속여부에 대하여 학생들의 70%가 그대로 유지되는 것을 원하고 있다. 노작교육의 개선방안으로는 첫째, 노작교육에 대한 의미의 재정립이 필요하며, 둘째, 노작교육의 영역을 확대내지는 개편하여야 하며, 셋째, 교육과정 편성에 있어 학생들이 의무가 아닌 선택의 마음가짐으로 임하게 하며, 넷째, 노작교육을 통해 나오는 생산품을 현물화 및 상품화시켜 전문화를 꾀함으로써 학생들에게 근로비나 인센티브로 제공하도록 한다. 노작교육은 전인교육을 지향하고 있으며, 사물에 대한 이해 능력 신장, 인간과 사회와 자연을 이해하는 시민성 향상, 경험을 통한 체력의 증진을 한다는 측면에서 교양교육으로서의 가치가 있음을 발견하였다. 진정한 교육은 전인교육에 의해서 가능하며, 또 노작교육에 의해서 진정한 교육의 의미와 목적은 이루어진다고 할 수 있으며 아울러 교양교육의 목적구현에 크게 이바지할 수 있다는 점에 본 연구의 가치가 있다고 본다.

영문 초록

The value of work-oriented education as resurfacing the meaning of general education in university educations, especially the necessity to be resurfacing the identity of general education that is fundamental to university education is an urgent issue than at any time. At this point, this study was conducted for the purpose of researching the value of work-oriented education, which is currently offered as a general education requirement. The survey was conducted with 36 professors, 333 freshmen to verify the effectiveness of work-oriented education. 79% of the professors and 77% of the freshmen answered that the gardening and farming are the proper area of work-oriented education. About the curriculum category of work-oriented education, 34% of the professors wanted it to be a general education requirement and 26% of the professors wanted it to a general education selective. Most of the students(42%) wanted it to be as a general education selective or a pass/fail class rather than a general education requirement. About the satisfaction of work-oriented education, 29% of the professors, 59% of the freshmen were contented with it. 70% of the freshmen wanted work-oriented education to be retained in terms of character education. To improve work-oriented education, first, redefining the meaning of work-oriented education is necessary. Second, expanding or reorganizing of the domain of work-oriented education is needed. Third, helping students to engage in work-oriented education not because of their duty but for their choice in terms of the curriculum formation is essential. Last but not least, fourth, providing with work fee or incentive pay for students by promoting work-oriented education to specialize through commoditizing the products from work-oriented education can provide positive outcomes. Work-oriented education has several values; increase understanding of objects, improve positive characters of citizen to understand human society and nature, and enhancement physical strength through experience. The true education is possible within well-rounded education, and the meaning and purpose of the true education could be fulfilled through work-oriented education. Also, this study is worthy because it may make a significant contribution to realize the purpose of work-oriented education.
